The value of the Won
« on: October 05, 2011, 11:30:46 am »
I know the value of the Won is decreasing. Someone has told me that it's increasing but I was watching CNN Korea (where I am located) and while I don't understand Hungul that well it seems as if it is still decreasing until 2014. Any news on this?

It's all speculation.  No-one knows what will happen.

A weak Won is good for exports, so some parties have a vested interest in keeping it that way.

If you look at the history of it, you can notice the won weakens around Christmas time.  Probably artificial weakening so they can sell their stuff for cheaper in other countries.

It figures the value of the won is predicted to go down right around the time I'll be getting a paycheck here... grrr... hopefully it won't go down too much and mess up sending $ home for student loan payments...
