Make a Movie Camp
« on: November 01, 2010, 10:13:22 pm »
I saw a few people that made videos over the summer and I decided to incorporate the idea in my 2010 Summer Camp. I finally got around to making the video today and I wanted to post it, in case anyone else is interested in the idea.

Steps to making video:
1. Write one line of the song on one line of paper (make sure to number the back of each page after you create it so you don't get them mixed up in the end)
2. Have students draw a picture for each sheet of paper
3. Take pictures of each sheet of paper
4. Create video in Windows Live Movie Maker (or any movie making software you have)

Enjoy ~ ;D

Make a Movie Camp
« Reply #2 on: November 16, 2010, 10:42:10 am »
This is my summer school camp frrm earlier this year. I had a lot of free time while the students were doing exams so I made a workbook and stuff.

This camp is for 1st and 2nd grade middle school (highish level) and runs for 9 45min classes.

Here are the power points I used and the workbook. Some of the other resources are missing (because I can't be bothered hunting through my computer for them) but if anyone wants them I'll have a look.

Feel free to use and/or change any of it  :)

I want to do this during my winter camp. How much time did this activity use up?
Thanks for sharing. I love it!

Since the numbers of students dwindled down from 5 to 2, it took about 3 full days (6 hours total) for the students to complete the pictures. For me to take photographs of all of the pictures, upload them into Windows Movie Maker, add the song and do editing, it took about an hour :)

Hey All,

I'm contemplating making a movie with my elementary students during a 2 week camp with my co-teachers. I was trying to tell them my ideas and I said I want to show them the video I saw at some SMOE orientation in which Korean students made a "where is the restroom" video. I think it was posted to Youtube. Does anybody know the link/name of the video?? The general overview of the video was two students go on a date and the guy gets a stomachache then runs around town trying to find a bathroom.

Also. Does anybody have any materials for a make a video camp for fairly low level elementary students? Seems a lot of the movie camps posted here are for Middle or High School.

THANKS!

-Erika :)

Hey there,

I was wondering if you could post any of the templates for the movie-planning stage? (characters, script, etc)

I would be eternally grateful.. thanks!

Hey, did you end up making a movie with your students? I got the idea from this topic and made one during winter 'vacation'. The students made the characters and wrote the story. It's a horror film called 'A Last Breath'.

A couple of internet utilities to help with the planning or creating of animated movies or didn't have a camera to record:

Filmmaking summer day program for Korean and Japanese students
« Reply #19 on: June 14, 2011, 05:13:54 pm »
So I was looking at volunteer opportunities in Korea on the craiglist forum and came across this opportunity. Although I won't be able to help out as much during the programming, since I have my own programming to attend too, the project admistrator did mention that the project is still accepting students into the program. I don't teach 15 or 16 year olds, so I guess anyone who has this student population and you think your students might be interested in partaking in this project please feel free to contact the project administrator for more information. Also, if you would like to volunteer and have a passion for filmmaking please contact the project administrator for more information about the program and on ways you can assist. There are flyers outlining the project attached.
