Lantern Festival in Seoul

(1/1)

Flyingdutchman8:
Does anyone have information about this?  I would like to go but I'm having trouble finding information.

Thanks

lizteacher10:
I went to it last year. I think it was around this time or a little later. Its mainly on the Chyeongaechun and downtown. Its worth seeing. Just keep checking the korea tourist websites they will post a date.

Paul:
Here's the lacklustre official details for this year:

And here's the decidedly more detailed page for LAST year:
http://www.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/FU/FU_EN_15.jsp?cid=861630
(Note the amusing irony that they made such a nice page complete with a map in preparation of "Visit Korea Year", yet didn't copy-paste it to the "Visiti Korea Year" 2010 page, hehe.)

So in summary:
Seoul Lantern Festival 2010
Time: November 5th-14th 2010
Place: Cheonggye Plaza
Map: On the 2009 link above.
Notes: Coincides with the G20 summit (so expect all the crowds associated).

Thanks for actually posting about this, I hadn't heard about it, and I love these types of events, so I'll make sure I drop by Seoul to sneak a peek.

Google Tip: Prefixing a search term with a negative sign will omit all results with that term from your search. Like you, I couldn't find ANYTHING on this festival because the greater publicised Lotus Lantern Festival dominated results. Including "-lotus" solved this.

http://www.seoulcityblog.com/2010/10/25/seoul-lantern-festival-2010/ Here's the info for it as well as a map and all info for the festivities.  It was a lot of fun last year. Have a great time and dress warm~!
