Ordering on Danawa.co.kr
« on: October 18, 2011, 04:03:49 PM »
So after 2 months in Korea, I am finally in the market for a smartphone. I've decided on either a used iPhone 4 or a new iPhone 4S (if it ever gets past Samsung and garners gov't approval). I considered buying Android, but I wouldn't be able to take any of the current phones back with me to use in the States on ATT.

Prices on c'list and waygook are a little steep for my taste, and so I have been looking on Danawa. But Google Translate has only gotten me so far, and my co-teacher is not super technology-savvy for help with ordering stuff on the interwebs. So I would appreciate any help that fellow waygookers could provide.

Is the site like a Korean craigslist, in that it connects buyers and sellers, or is does Danawa play middleman? I'm assuming that one can meet to take a look at the goods, but I'm not 100% sure of how that works, or if you can.

Any help or experiences would be great.

It's just a site that compares prices of various vendors, so you wouldn't be buying from Danawa. Clicking a product will direct you to another vendor such as Gmarket , GS Shop, etc.

If the site it directs you to is Gmarket, Auction or 11st, you can probably buy the item without too much trouble, however a lot of other Korean shopping sites won't take foreigner IDs to create accounts. They are improving though, and each year more sites are opening up.

Thanks for the responses so far. I should have been more clear in the OP, but I am really looking for information about the used section of danawa.co.kr. Here's a link to what I am talking about: http://dmall.danawa.com/sale/saleListMenu.php?nSiteC=4

There is alot of used technology for sale on the site, which is about my speed and in my price range. Anyone bought something used from the site?

You're still buying from another vendor; Danawa is simply acting as a liason like Gmarket. Your experience will vary on the vendor.

Looks like you'll need a Korean to help because foreigners might not be able to register.
