For the Colors ESL song (what color is the sky) mentioned above. I had the kids listen to the song once. Then like someone else suggested in another thread, had them add motions to each color.
Everytime they hear blue, they clap once. Yellow= snap. Green= stomp feet. Red= tap desk. I had the kids do it sitting down then made them stand up for a second and third time. They really liked it and wanted to do it again and again.
After I taught them the motion I would also test to see if they understood what was going on. I would say blue, then they would clap, etc. Then I would do the motion, and they would tell me the color.
Finally I'm uploading an I SPY powerpoint I put together with some pictures from an I SPy book and a few color slides I made. I will pick an object from the slide then say, I spy something blue. They have to figure out what I picked. You could also do this without the powerpoint with things around the classroom but I figured this would help practice the vocab.
