Arsalan:
Hello...  8)

So you may have noticed on Wed the 10th that the site went down for about an hour.  I had to perform a bit of an emergency upgrade.  Ram was tripled on the server, and so was bandwidth availability.

I must mention that it is imperative for people to click on the ads that are on the site.  Currently there is only one spot where I keep them, and I would like it to stay that way (to avoid cluttering the site).  We now have nearly 6000 users, and the cost of maintaining the site is getting close to the same price as financing a car.  Seeing that it is rather difficult to keep that trend going by myself, I would request people click on the ads regularly.  It's a couple of cents per click, but if everyone does it, then it shouldn't be an issue.  If you know others who use the site, please encourage them to click on ads to help support the site.  After all, it's all about keeping things running smoothly, and full of useful content for teachers.

Thanks everyone.

If you just click and close on the same ads, does it still give the site money?

infogoddess:
Will do - is there anything that can be done about the inappropriate ads though?  I keep seeing ones that really don't seem right for this site.  I'm no prude, but links to dating sexy women on an educators site just don't seem right

I don't really like ads, which is why I block them.  If it's true the sexy ads are on here, that's even a better reason to block them (for work and personal life). I never knew ads existed on this site - I haven't seen a single ad for awhile since I've installed AdBlock Plus on Firefox on my personal computer and the school's computers.  Sorry, I will not disable the block for this site.

However, I believe in maintaining the function of this site.  Instead, is there a Paypal address so I can donate?  I think this will help build reliability for this site - every dollar here and there from a handful of people (in addition to the few who click on the ads) will bring further revenue because viewing ads are becoming yesterday, not just for me but for many others.  Who knows? If we get enough donors out there, this awesome site can be ad-free without even needing an ad-blocker. I don't mind chipping in 5-10 bucks.

I would also be willing to send along some money to help the site. I have been using it for the past year at least, if not two (I can't remember when I signed up) and will be teaching in Korea for another two years yet. The materials I use are invaluable so I think the least I can do is contribute a bit of money for maintenance fees.
