Here's an intro presentation with a couple of games.
All files were found elsewhere and then modified. Thanks to the original uploaders.
The first is an introduction to the unit that I have updated to include more colors (pink, grey, gold, silver). The end of the presentation has 2 different books available for online viewing with your class. If you need a username for the Tumblebooks site and can't find one online, please send me a private message.
The second is a Hotseat or Taboo-type game that I made using another presentation. A color is presented to the students while one student has his or her back turned to the screen. The rest of the students can say anything that is that color, but they cannot say the color itself. Eg. If the color is blue, they can say: "sky," "bird," "eyes," or anything around the classroom but they can't say "blue." This can also be played in groups where one student in each group sits facing away from the screen. Each student has to guess 3 colors before their turn is finished. You can also compete to see which team can help their team member guess the 3 colors the fastest.
The third game presents color words that are written in different colors. For example, the word "blue" might be written in red. The students have to say "It's red" when the word appears, and not "It's blue" as fast as possible. They can play in groups of 4-5 and compete for who can say the color the fastest.
Eye spy is another game I played with the kids, and it went over surprisingly well. It workes as a whole-class activity and as a small-group game. It didn't take much explaining other than an example and a slide that gave the "I spy..." prompt.
