Urgent phone compatibilty info required please

Hi folks.

I lost my phone a month ago, which is part of a two year contract with SK. A friend I know will sell me his iphone 4, but neither of us know for sure whether its guaranteed to work in Korea. He brought it over from Canada and it is unlocked and jailbroken. Like I said earlier, my  contract is with SK, so just need to know whether there will be issues getting it to work on their network and continuing my contract using that phone. I'm assuming some Waygooks must have a had similar issues, so any information will be much appreciated, as I need to know for sure it will work before I commit to buy.

My friend is with Olleh and he's using his iPhone from the USA. Should be fine if it's jailbroken

If it's an officially unlocked and jailbroken (note that these are two separate processes, and unlocking is the important one to you in this instance) iPhone 4 you'll have no problems.  Unless you count Koreans being unsure that unlocking is possible (as it's not possible everywhere) and/or being worried about explaining in broken or no English about the unlocking process to be a problem.    Either way, you should just be able to pop an iPhone 4 sim from SK or KT into the phone, plug it into anyone's itunes (as long as itunes can see the internet) and have it work.  Just be sure it stays unlocked: ie. IF your unlock is based on the jailbreak, for instance, instead of it coming pre-unlocked, then you'd better not do anything to unjailbreak it, or you'll be holding an expensive ipod touch.
