The emotional rollercoaster that living abroad can be

The quote about Swedn reminded me of Korea

Quote
The instructor was 10 minutes late, yet the first thing she said was: 'We in Sweden are very punctual.' They seem to have have a vision of themselves that they simply don't live by themselves."
If you think you can or can't do a thing - you are probably right.

there was a fantastic article in the Economist last year about being an expat.. the yearning to be an expat the pluses/minuses, etc.

cultural clashes and surprises shouldn't be big surprises, one should read up on the place where they're thinking of moving to.

I could've easily foretold the difficulties that the Italian would face in Sweden for e.g. even though to a lazy observer, it would seem like a no big deal Europe to Europe move.

yet.. Latin Europe can be radically different from Germanic/Northern Europe.
