Galaxy Tab Class Set: Suggestions on Use
« on: November 15, 2011, 07:48:30 am »
My school has turned to me this morning and discussed the possibility of buying a class set of Galaxy Tabs (at a ratio of about 3 students to one tab).  So, since I have been handed this pretty nice opportunity to get about 5 Tabs, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to use them (either in my school situation, or in your own- either way will help to be a launching board for ideas).

Background info: I work at a gifted high school, so I have a classes of 15 relatively high-level students, and I teach Conversation classes (usually I pick a topic ranging from "serious" things like GMO and Environment to random things like Pokemon) and we do about 3 activities each lesson, where the goal is to mainly have the students speak to each other during the activity. I also teach writing, and Advanced Conversation to 2nd and 3rd Graders.

At the moment I've thought of using them simply as whiteboards, so they can draw or do whatever I want them to digitally create and connect to the projector, or doing an activity where they each get a video to watch, summarize and present (or something like that), maybe using them in windmill activities.

So, any suggestions? Sites that would be applicable (maybe with good flash games or quizzes that can relate to esl)?

I'd be finding dictionary software, installing it and raising the vocab. bar a little higher in creative work from then on. I cannot personally suggest any such software, but there's undoubtedly a few in the Android store.
