Umm...I guess you didn't read the 3 pages of repeated verification from other people including the founder of this website. Anyway, I just discovered this thread today. I'm so happy for the good report on the transplant! I'll be sending you something this afternoon, but no worries on personally replying to me about it our anything. Save your time on something else!

The wife of a guy on the KOTESOL executive knows Mick's wife and has reported it all as it's stated here. If it were a scam it would involve a lot of real, well known people with reputations to lose.

I don't know any of these people, but the fact that Arsalan is behind it, Jackdaniel's checked it out, a handful of teachers who live in the same town, including one who used to live there but has now gone back home, they all wrote in and stated it was true and my pastor called the hospital and checked on it, and well if its a scam, its a pretty good one. the writers on this post have a ring of truth. I haven't noticed any discrepancies. changing facts, yes, but that is not the same thing as a conflict of information or, as i said, a discrepancy. in a way, I wish it was because I don't like the idea of another waygook being so close to death's door, but I think its legit.

The unfortunate truth is that it's real, but hopefully they will come out of it and Mike will recover his health.  Insha'Allah, as we Muslims tend to say.  We're all hoping for the best, and as far as I know they're nearing the mark for the medical bill?

Doctors have to get tests performed on patients, and research a patient's file, sometimes they discover a new possibility where they thought it was a not the case or vice versa.  In this case, it was good news.

Arsalan commented that they may be near their goal. that would be utterly amazing if it was true, however, I would like to suggest that we continue to give. Think about this for a moment. Pretend that you are in S. Korea laying in a hospital bed awaiting surgery and you really don't know if you are going to live or die. what do you want the most in the whole wide world? I can't speak for Michael, and I don't know his family circumstances, but I know he has a wife here. but seriously, would you want your mother here? your parents? If/when we reach the goal of paying for his operation, let's continue to give and help his parents get here.

Thank you everyone for your support, it really does mean a lot to us.  Waygook has been incredible, and Arsalan, thank you!

It is true that information has been changing alot, and that is in part because of my eagerness to get the word out.  As we know, things in Korea can change quickly, and possibly the communication barriers, are a factor.
Arsalan, as you mentioned there are also SO many tests that need to be done to check compatibility!  Once all of these tests are complete, I will post the information.  I apologize for the confusion.

We can only pass on what we hear from the hospital, and the family, but we do hope to get another update out shortly.

What I do know, right now, is that we still need help in getting the funds together.

We understand the skepticism, and we hope people do call the various powers that be (NZ Embassy) to verify.  It helps us to build credibility, as well as exposure for more help.

Once again, we thank everyone who has donated what they can.  It really is going directly to save our friend's life!
Be the change you want to see in the world.

Merryone, I didn't mean to suggest we stop or that they have reached their goal.  I wrote the sentence quickly and typed a question mark at the end to indicate a question, but as with all my quick replies, I end up spending more time clarifying myself after. ;)  Oh well.  You're right, we should also possibly bring it to the attention of others who can help, superiors/supervisors in your work environment?

Hey guys.. I've been following this unfortunate problem that your friend has.. There is a party on Friday night in a small bar in GwangYang.. but many foreigners from the Suncheon/Gwangyang area will be attending.. I want to set up a donation box to help out.. I would like to attach to the box a small writeup about this man.. If you or anyone else has time, can you please write something about this man that explains the situation and explains his character/personality.. cheers!

My email is Benztof@aol.com

Just like to thank everybody once again!  YOUR SUPPORT IN PRAYERS AND DONATIONS HAVE
BEEN SO TREMENDOUS!!! It's UNBELIEVABLE, and thank you to Arsalan for backing this up
from the start, and yes Insha'Allah everything goes well.

We're still in the process of setting up Paypal, there has been some technical difficulties
and hopefully fingers crossed we'll have that up and running ASAP!

To everyone just as AC_in Korea has said, once again and over and over we value everyone
for their contributions and their continual prayers and petitions.

I hope you all have a fantastic day!  ;D

Everyone remember it's pay day on Friday, we'll be donating then and hopefully so will many other people out there.

Best wishes to everyone involved,

Charlie

I haven't read all the pages but have you set up a http://www.justgiving.com/ account where people can safely donate their hard earned.  Good luck.

AC in Korea you're doing an awesome job with the other Miryangites to update us when you can. Thanks for getting paypal sorted. It's so amazing to read posts of people who are taking an interest and giving to a stranger.

Jung-Gu, Seoul, Korea
Phone: 82-10-7552-1964

Just over a week ago we sent out a plea to raise money for our friend, Michael Milne, who is in a Busan Hospital waiting for an organ transplant.  We jumped in with two feet to try to raise the money our friend needs in order to have the surgery, and because of this, the information at hand has been very disconnected.
In an effort to be more concise, we have gone through all of the posts and tried to provide all of the relevant information in one spot.  We have kept the money donation posts here, to try to send personal notes of thanks.  (Please be patient!)
Michael Milne, a teacher from New Zealand, has been teaching English in Miryang, South Korea for almost five years.  He works at four different schools, and loves his job very much.  He is not a big partier, but he did enjoy the occasional drink.  He went to the hospital with stomach problems, was transferred to a Busan hospital, and has been told he needs a liver transplant, or he will not survive.  Mick’s family does not have the 40-50 million won that the hospital says is not covered by his Korean National Health Insurance.
As we have seen, things change quickly, but at this point, plans for a live donor transplant are going ahead!  The surgery is scheduled for next week.  For your information, you can read about live donor transplants here: http://www.surgery.usc.edu/divisions/hep/ldlt-donorandrecipient.html
While this is great news, and half of the battle, it means we need the donations more than ever.
We are so grateful to tell you that we have raised close to 10 million won from your extremely generous donations (as of Wednesday, Nov. 23rd).   The full sum of your donation is going into Mick’s bank account, and helping to pay the hospital bills, which are quickly accumulating; and helping to support his family, since he is not working.
Unfortunately, we still have a ways to go to get to the necessary 40 – 50 million won quoted by the hospital.
Please continue with your support, whether it be through prayers, good thoughts, kind words, or money donations.  We need them all!  We will continue to post updates about Mick, as well as any events we plan in order to help raise funds.
We’d like to extend our sincere thanks, and extreme gratitude in the generosity that people have shown.  Please find some happiness in knowing that you really are helping to save a life.  We are truly overwhelmed with the kindness of the communities we have reached out to.  Thank you so much!
Much thanks to the people with O- blood that have offered to donate.  We will need you, and we’ll be in touch with details soon!  Thank you for your support!
Be the change you want to see in the world.

Great news that he can have the transplant next week.
It's good to see so many kind hearted people willing to donate
I will donate today sometime.

Michael has been teaching in Korea for 5 years, he is
most likley to have a decent amount of savings. Nothing has been mentioned
about this, just wondering if you could tell us about this.

I will tell my friends about this and get them to donate aswell.
