Here's a practice powerpoint with matching survey activity/competition.
Pretty self explanatory.
I created name cards so they can't cheat on the survey.
You just have to print and laminate.

Probably good for period 1 or 2.

I haven't tried this lesson yet, I hope it works! I used High Town cards from Mes English http://www.mes-english.com/games/hightown.php and common ideas from other people for my planning.

1. Print out HT cards, cut and leminate.
2. Introduce vocabulary like Surname, date of birth, place of birth etc, short forms might help(DOB, POB) kids like things like these,age, height etc,  how old/tall are you will be your main questions...
3. Distribute in small groups, equal number each group, I prefer 5 or more each and 1 card a round.
4. Teams pick one card, give them time to talk about their cards and choose one memmber to represent them.
5. That member will stand up and be the person on the card ("I'm Bob" if the card says Bob, I'm from Canada if the card says so).
6. Let other students ask them the target questions, (what's your name, where are you from?) each member answers in full sentences, 
7. Standing members play Rock, papper, scissors and the winner will choose between Height and Age which will determine the winner, again, let other students ask the quetions, how old are you or how tall are you .   

The oldest or tallest wins and 5 points will be given to their group.  They get to keep the cards from the lost teams and each card is worth a point.

NB! in other rounds you can get them to change and use "this is.....and she's from, introducing the prson on the card.
The game continues in rounds and the group with more points wins.

Conlusion can be filling in forms about themseves and answer questions from the teacher randomly.
That's all I can do with my short time, if you have more time you can add more.

Here's a homework assignment useful for any period. I only give them home 2 times during a lesson, so I'm using this 1st period.

Has anyone figured out how to condense these lessons into less than 7? They're already so packed in with material that even with deleting certain sections from my lesson plan, I still find I don't have time to add more sections from the next period to condense. It was easier with last year's book, but this one is so tightly designed (which I guess is a sign of its thoroughness) I can't seem to fit anything in without losing my kids entirely. The chants suck but they seem to have some value so I am hesitant to drop them.  Not to mention 7 is an awkward number.  Anyone??

Here is the vocab sheet for this lesson as well as a role play I made up to go with it. I may be blind but I don't see a role-play in the book, and my kids love role play (and are used to doing one) and they got a lot out of it (and I get amusement hehe), so I created one.
In the scenery wording, I plan on having my CT translate it, I recommend this. I will post a new version if she gets to do it before classes begin.

My co-teacher and I just discussed that. Originally, I thought combining Periods 1 & 2 would be good, but we decided to take both periods slowly and introduce it thoroughly. We're going to teach all our 3rd & 4th Periods together since they are the easiest. Periods 5 & 6 seem like they have the most content and the most ability to expand, so we're going to just squeeze the Check Up (Period 7) into the end of Period 6. In review, we'll do

Class 1: Period 1
Class 2: Period 2
Class 3: Periods 3 & 4
Class 4: Period 5
Class 5: Periods 6 & 7 with the lion's share devoted to 6

I doubt this is ideal, but we couldn't see any better solution. If students can't do the Check Up very quickly by the end of Class 5, it's unlikely they'll learn it without some major personal attention.

I took Caesardust's lesson plan format (thank you!) and created my 1st period lesson plan with it. I know they are supposed to learn "How do you spell your name?" in 2nd or 3rd period but my students already know  "how do you spell that?" so I am teaching "can you spell that for me?" in 1st period.

EDIT:
I've added 3 more period lesson plans. I've condensed the lessons down to 4 for now, and am using two additional periods for cultural/conversation projects and the other period for grammar.
I'll add those plans when I finish them.

Did you cut anything out of each section? For example, I almost never use the book games and instead do board games where the kids can fully interact with the language. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
