Star Wars the Old Republic MMORPG
« on: December 02, 2011, 12:45:17 pm »
Who is excited about this game and will play it when it's available? Id like to play with people in Korea. I will only play casually at first and see how good it is. as with most games, it's more fun to play with friends.

interested in seeing who will play.

I've been waiting for it to come out for ages! But... only having my laptop with me here in Korea, I'm going to wait and see some reviews/ other people's experiences with regards to specs and what not before I buy it.

It sounds like it's going to be great, though!
If I do end up with the game, I'll drop you a line :)

I did two of the beta test weekends and LOVED the game. It has it's flaws, but if you like SW it's a total blast to play.

I'm likely going to pre-order this weekend but I'm still figuring out the best way to get the game here.

I already pre-ordered! I'll download early access. I had the box sent to my friend in the U.S., he'll give me the code when he gets it so I can update the game.

Long ago i use to play that one starwars game where you destroy the deathstar. But, koreans do not like starwars games as much as they like gay silly elves who frolic in the forest and look happy and skinny. they like warcraft. I was kind of thinking of playing starwars but i think i should get out more and make friends because i have none. I still don't have a hawt girlfriend here. also you can play a lot of games here because the net is fast but they give you problems on the america side because they think you are a scam guy and hacker trying to get free usa accounts. it is better to not play games here and be like me. i am a professional movie watcher. i just saw cowboys and aliens and it motivated me enough to go to bed. i think it is kind of sad to come to korea and not learn the culture and just watch movies and play games all ur freetime. you should try to get out and go to a kim bob place or something. i stay home and eat frozen emart chicken nuggets and watch movies or play games. i just get fat depressed and  lonely. it is a vicious cycle of getting fatter and more boring. your time spent playing games means absolutely nothing in the real world. the reason Americans are so dumb now is they just want to play games and get fat. i understand maybe you will only play a little. but how often can you look back and say. "ya i spent only a hour or two on tv/playstation i didn't waste my time." i bet you can't do that. well bye. i am going to go cut some heads off some orcs now so i doubt i will be replying soon.

also if cool girls want to meet up with me please pm me. i will be in seoul after christmas so it would be nice to have some hawt girls to show me around seoul and buy me good german and irish beers they have there. for real. i be in seoul soon.

I was rather disappointed hearing about this game a year or two ago. I wanted another KOTOR game and not another money pit MMORPG. Don't get me wrong, it looks good. I just wanted a game I could play for so many hours and have it END. I've been sucked into MMORPGs before and I know playing this won't help my social life. I just built a sick new PC, so it's going to be even harder. My i7 2600k, 16 gigs of ram, and Radeon 6950 2 gig card wants to play lol. I know if I pick this game up, I'll prolly be playing it mass amounts a week lol. I have that personality lol. If I know the game will end, I'll play it less. The social me, shoulders, wrists, and urge to munch on snacks say no. But my PC and loner side say yes.

I went with Amazon for my copy since they let me track shipping. But they wanted $35 to ship the game here so I'm having it sent to my mom's house and getting her to send it to me. Flaws or not the USPS is almost always the cheapest game in town AND they're pretty reliable. Never had any issues with the Korean postal servive either.

I am unsure about joining a specific server and how that works, but I do know that our guild has to be assigned an alignment. I think being empire will be good, because that gives us more sith to destroy. of course you can be jedi and make "dark choices".

how about pve vs pvp?
I think pve will has a closed set of pvp battles.
pvp servers will be more open pvp battles. make sense?

i think pvp will be the funnest!

If you're Empire the goal is usally NOT to destroy Sith.

And what are you talking about being asigned aligement? A guild is either Republic or Empire. Oh, and I suggest you join the servor your guildmates will be on. That tends to help.

ah yes, you are right. I meant to say "let's be republic." so we can fight the masses of sith jerks.

"assigned alignment" means our guild has to be republic or empire. like you said, it will make more sense if we can join together.

do you know how to join a specific server? i will figure it out of course when i get the game, but early info will be helpful.

I checked with my guild today and they expect that registered guild leaders will be notified of their servers within the week. Once your guild leaders know they should pass that along to you. If your guild isn't registered with the official SWTOR site I think it's too late and you'll have to work it out once the game gets up and running.

I know there's been some vauge talk of an expats guild but who knows if anyone will ever do it. I signed up with a fairly large guild that plays several MMOs and have a good repution.

I'm not super worried about getting a early start playing either as the first few days are going to be pretty clogged and no doubt some bugs remain. Of course, I've been screwed by bugs more in DC Universe Online in the weeks that I played it than by TOR in the two weekends I played it. DCUO is still a fun game though.

I, for one, would be much more interested in this game if it had X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter style dogfighting

You do get space battles, even if they are more the rail shooter type.

I'm already in early access and playing.

I rolled on the unofficial oceanic pvp server. There are a few unofficial oceanic servers, which you can find by looking at the forum community. I'd suggest anybody in Korea roll on those, if you want people to be online during your time.

I forgot my server name already. I think it was "The Swiftsure" perhaps.

My amazon order will arrive at my friend's house tomorrow.
