New kid in Pyeongchon
« on: December 09, 2011, 10:07:48 pm »
Hi, I've just moved to Pyeongchon, Anyang. Anyone know of fun stuff to do in the area?
I know about Happiness bar in Beomgyie, the art park and that there's a mountain near me. Anyone know of any other good acitivities?
Also, good places to eat in Pyeongchon, anywhere in the general Anyang area and Uiwang would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hey,
Welcome to Anyang...I currently live there now. You should join the "Teaching in Anyang, South Korea" on FB page, lots of people who live there use the page for events etc. Also you can PM me if you wanna hang out sometime or get dinner. Good luck in Korea :)

Hi and welcome to P-town! I'm new to this site but I've been living in Pyeongchon for almost 6 years.

The foreign run or foreign friendly bars I mostly like to go to are the Dug Out off Hagwon-ga and Fongs behind Uiwang Art Street. They've goth got great owners and clientele.

As for restaurants, my local favorites would be the Italian at the top of Acro Towers, the Indian/Nepali in Anyang downtown area, and there is a lamb galbi and kebab place in Beomgye that I like, and it's name translates to "the Silence of the Lambs!' Delicious, ft ft ft ft ft ft!

Does anyone have a favorite regular galbi or samgyeopsal place? There are loads of great ones around here, but I'm always on the lookout for new good ones.

I bet I've met some of you before but don't know who you are in real life!  I've been living in Pyeongchon for 2 years now.

I also enjoy the Dug Out.  One reason is that I like to play darts and they have real dart boards.   :P  But I don't go out to bars much these days.

My favorite mountain to climb is Gwanak-san.  There are lots of trails, and if you get to the top you can walk the ridge all the way to Seoul.  I prefer to make a day of it.  But Morak-san, to the south, is also a fun hike which can be done in a couple of hours.  Suri-san is down next to Gunpo and is quite steep but short.

If you ride a bike, I can tell you about some more stuff!  (But I haven't been biking this winter.)

Oh yeah!  Do you like saunas/jjimjilbangs?  Sauna Park, next to Pyeongchon station, is awesome.   ;)
