HowTo: Change Korean Windows 7 and Office 2010 to English
« on: September 28, 2011, 01:43:54 PM »
I've uploaded two tutorial videos on how to change a fresh install of Windows 7 and Office 2010 from Korean (Hangul) to English (US).

The tutorial on Windows 7 itself applies to Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise.  Windows 7 Home Premium and Professional are only capable of using one language at a time, so they need to be reinstalled with English as the language.  Windows 7 Ultimate/Enterprise will allow you to install multiple languages side-by-side.

It is worth noting that changing Korean Office 2010 fully to English will cost $25.  You can get tooltips for free, and I'll show you how to do that, but the display languages pack for Office (what controls the button language) is $25.

I believe you can only change the language back and forth in Ultimate.  I know with other versions you can choose the language when you first install the OS, but not after.  So you may have to re-install the OS, unless IslandGook is aware of another way.

Language packs can be changed in Ultimate or Enterprise.  My school at least uses Windows 7 Enterprise, which makes sense if they really want to do more remote PC management in the future.  It is a bit a of a crapshoot which version your school might use though, and you two are right that this really only applies if you have one of those two versions.  I'll amend the OP.

Hey! I downloaded the Language pack, but my computer tells me that I have Windows Started and I am not sure how to apply my Language Pack to my Microsoft Office. Some help would be awesome, please!

I also purchased the language pack and I did everything I was told to, but the buttons are still in Hangul. Did I upload something wrong?

Sorry for responding so late! I have Microsoft 2010. I think it's the least expensive version, but I am not sure.
