I've worked with Korean Horizons (Alistair), ESL Starter (Claire), WnPC (Emily), and Korea Connections (Jay).

Emily with WnPC by far was the most helpful and proactive about the job offers, but I found all four to be professional. I had a similar experience with Alistair as the other posters, but I don't think he was purposely being arrogant. He does seem very busy though, and he did drop me.

Good luck.

Alister of Korean Horizons is one of those guys you either love or hate. I hated him. He expected you to be professional but didn't return the same level of professionalism.

Aclipse Recruiting did right by me, more or less. They'll push to place you with Chungdahm Learning (reviews I've heard have been a mixed bag), but I held out for PS. The guy I had, Don Smith, was pretty prompt about responding, extremely knowledgeable, and very helpful. I had a question or two for him once I got over here, and he got a bit terse, but I already had a good job here by then (and in the past, I may have had a little trouble getting stuff in the mail).

My experience with GMSC recruiting was miserable, and not only because the guy was an ill-informed dude who constantly had a baby on his shoulder while on the phone with me. After the 5th piece of misinformation about how quickly I would need to be ready to leave/public school deadlines, I went to talk to other people.

I used Footprints and had a great experience.  I was looking for a PS job, so I don't know how they are on the private school side.  I think it is worth using a few recruiters at the same time to maximize the number of jobs you will be presented with.  Some recruiters, at least for the PS side, have almost exclusive access to some MOEs and programs.

I came through Teach ESL Korea (as did numerous of my friends who work here now). They were a great agency with constant contact and clear information. I ended up with an excellent placement in Korea and am very happy!

I DO NOT recommend Teach ESL Korea.

Someone I know was at a job interview with a TeachESLKorea recruiter. The "boss" offered to give that person a certain salary. The recruiter argued with the boss IN FRONT OF THAT PERSON - in English telling them not to give so much money b/c that person wasn't qualified enough. The boss agreed to the higher salary anyways. That person had to argue against their recruiter at the interview!

I, personally, used Teach ESL Korea for my first (current) job placement. They said the only thing they could find was something out in the sticks. While being here I found out how the ESL game works and was able to sign (independently-without a recruiter) a way better, way higher-paying contract in a way better location for my next placement.

Korvia all the way. They're endorsed by Eatyourkimchi as well.... If that's important to you. More info about them in this video:

Korvia Consulting, very professional. Google them, they are great.

They are known to very pushy, and for strongly recommending jobs in precisely the locations you told them you didn't want.

Youni Korea. I worked with Hera Kim for my current public school job. She was pretty good as far as recruiters come. I told her what I wanted and she found jobs for me that fit that description. She recommended a few jobs that I wasn't interested in, and I just told her no, and she didn't try to push me into any job I didn't want. Overall a good experience with this agency.
