Our recruiter was putting on buses to take people from the airport to the orientation. Unfortunately they had one at about 7am and then another 3 or between 4 and 7 in the evening so people like us landing during the day had to either wait around at the airport or take a limousine bus to the orientation like we did.

our agency had not realised just how big a "city" this is.

They realised. They just lied to you.

It meant a year of a hellish commute for me but thankfully my girlfriend changed schools this year and it's been much easier.

Why couldn't your girlfriend travel? Silly question.

They didn't realise, they were just hopeless. We were given inaccurate information throughout, much of which actually made things more difficult for us and them - Reach to Teach, don't touch them with a bargepole. In terms of the second point, it was because the school had just renewed the lease on her flat for a year whereas mine had just finished. Therefore we were able to get the housing allowance if I commuted.

Eh, fair enough. I thought you meant travelling from her place to yours all the time. Perhaps I've been poisoned by numerous girlfriends' refusal to move more than eighteen inches in any direction.
