Air Asia web check-in questions / concerns
#basedcowboyshirt:
So, Air Asia doesn't have a check-in counter, apparently, since they require that you do a self check-in.
I've never flown Air Asia before, but I've got a bunch of flights booked with them in February all over Malaysia and I wanted to ask someone who's done similarly with them what the process was.
From what I gathered on their website, I just need to click web check-in, print out a boarding pass, and then show it to get on the plane.
Am I missing any steps, or is there anything else I should know? This whole self check-in business seems kind of sketchy.
Thanks~

Air Asia is similar to taking the bus. Take the paper to the check-in and drop off your bag and get your bording pass. Air Asia is a discount flight agency --- they have low, crappy standards such as you must be 45 minutes early for your flights. Their flights are constantly late, delayed or straight up cancelled. I almost missed a flight back to Seoul from Penang via KL because they cancelled the flight. I had to complain a ton to get on a later flight and barely made it. Since then, I will still use Air Asia, because it is cheap, but I will not do any same day transfers. Also, the airport they fly to in KL is a piece of junk separate airport that is different from the main airport in KL, which is really nice. That might be important to know if you have any transfers. Also, don't buy the bus pass to get to sentral KL, it's actually cheaper to buy it there. I wouldn't be any of the add ons for Air Asia. The only good side of that airport is that it is open 24 hours a day. have a good trip.

Okay. So, as far as the check-ins, just do the web check-in, print the stuff out here for all my flights, and just show it at the desk when I get to whichever airport I'm using?
Sounds easy enough. Hopefully they don't suck too badly.
I have a same-day transfer from Langkawi to KL to Seoul. Now I'm nervous.

You'll probably be fine for the same day transfer. Most of the problems are on the east coast of Malaysia and Borneo because of the typhoon season. I found the flight pretty comfortable actually and the food decent. My only complaint is the canceled flights.

Are you starting in Incheon? Had my first Air Asia exp. They're a "floating" airline, so they just take over an empty counter for check in, usually around J or K. Just ask the lady at information and she'll tell you where they'll turn up (oddly enough it wasn't listed on the TV's when I went).
