Rain in Korea?
eggplant_tyrant:
It rains a lot, but mainly during the summer when it's also very hot and humid. If you have the packing space it wouldn't hurt to bring a rain jacket for the few rainy days in spring and fall, but for the big summer rains it's usually way too warm for a jacket.
Uhfotis:
Just buy one here... Or buy an umbrella here.. As someone above said its usually too hot for raincoats when the main rains come and Koreans usually just roll with umbrellas
nhui:
How cheap is rain gear in Korea?
bosun:
Ahhh.. the rain! I miss it. Can't wait till the downpours. It makes me feel good.
T.shirt, shorts, and a pair of old sneakers. All you need, if you're not heading to work.
orangeman:
Do you have room in your luggage for a canopy? A football field length tarp? A Simpsons movie level dome?
Because that's what you need in order to deal with the rainy season here. I've completely given up, myself. Sure, I carry an umbrella much like an 18 year old brings the condom he's had in his wallet since the 6th grade to a whorehouse. Everyone involved knows it gives more protection to my psyche than anything else on my body. Cheap flip-flops, cheap t-shirt, flood pants. That's my uniform for 3 months here.
I'm a sucker for a nice rainy spring day, don't get me wrong. Don't bring anything here. It's like packing a nice fashionable jacket for Canadian winters. You're just going to have to deal with it when you get here. Cry yourself to sleep, drink all day, stab a co-worker. Whatever works. A rain jacket is like a bandaid on a severed limb in the Civil War. You just can't prepare for the inhumanity the summer in Korea brings.
