Sorry to burst your bubble, you pay 10% sales tax

When the sales tax is already included in the listed price it doesn't seem so bad.  Not like in the states, have to pay the sales tax (that is not included on the listed price which adds 1-10%) and then tip 15-20% on that total price.  Makes the meal, at least seem, to be much more expensive.

In the end I love that about Korea, pay the price listed on the menu! Golden...

In Seoul there are quite a few restaurants who don't include it and then when you pay they add it, it annoys me intensely. Wish there was some uniformity.

Stay away from the foreign restaurants then.  It's called a VAT.

Nope, not foreign restaurants, Korean restaurants that do it.
Everything is not as it seems.

No one owes you anything.... get over it.

NEVER think a failure is the end of the world, it is the beginning of a new opportunity.

The earth is flat....... I think, ha ha ha !!

Okay.  Staya away from the foreign restaurants + VIPS + Bennigan's.  I never get taxed extra at Korean restaurants.  You and your friends are getting ripped off.

Unshared housing.

A lot of places open 24-7 or close to it.

Affordable and reliable public transportaton.

Would definitely have to agree with these! I really could not imagine going back home  and having to possibly live with a roommate again.  Public transport here, second to none in my opinion.

I met and married my amazing husband here. I found and adopted my fantastic puppy here. The 90% refund on grad school tuition (if grades are maintained) is also pretty sweet.

Whoa, 90% refund?! Which program is this? I've been considering whether I should look into Korean grad programs or do online back in the States.

I agree with the points about housing, transportation, and general convenience of shops. I've never really had a problem finding anything I really *need* here, and the harder to find items are usually available through online stores. Also it seems really easy to meet people with similar interests, especially around Seoul. I've made some pretty close friends, both Korean and foreign, through random gatherings. It's been great meeting people from around the world and having conversations I could never dream about having with some of my old friends back in the States.

I spend as much of my time paragliding. I will go after school and just about every weekend. That is the only thing that really keeps me in Korea.

Can you please explain this? I am considering grad school in Korea.
I am young and free and the world is round, round, round.
