Getting rid of an old car.
« on: February 06, 2012, 05:02:25 PM »
My 12yr. old Matiz just died.  I don't know what's wrong with it yet.
I was planning to sell it at a give away price but now cannot.
My contract finishes end of March, thus am not inclined to fix it.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of such cars.
I've heard there are places who would buy it in its current state.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Vehicles can be disposed of at any auto junkyard. It is not a difficult process and should not cost you to get this done. In fact, the junkyard will pay you for themetal parts.

Required documents
- Certificate of vehicle registration
- A copy of the vehicle’s original registration issued within the last three days
- A certificate of ownership with the owner’s seal impression
- You must also present your alien registration card

This was taken from the Seoul Global Center's website.

Great, thank you much.  I shall ask around for such junkyards.

out of interest, did you ever bring it to a garage?
i had a matiz for 3 years and they dont just die without a garage being able to tell you whats wrong
i had a few times when i thought it had died like you said, after a few minutes the man would find a loose cable smile and close the bonnet and say "no charge"
then i would drive away :)

You can get a nice little profit from junking an old car. I received 400,000 won for my old Avante!
