Keep getting banned from eslcafe
« on: February 10, 2012, 05:48:25 PM »
I've gone through 3 different names on eslcafe recently because they keep getting banned. I'm following the TOS perfectly. I just want to talk to my friends over there. The day after a name gets activated, it gets banned for no reason. None.

What is going on over there? Have the mods just gone mad?

I'm not even allowed to see Dave's unless I use a strange computer.

They keep your cookies and know your isp address.  Only way to get around it is use a different computer or change your ip address, or use a proxy, though a proxy will make things slower and you can't use the quote and smiley functions.

I have a running joke with friends over how many times I've been banned - more than ten since 2005...

If you think you can or can't do a thing - you are probably right.

I've lost track of how many times I've been banned from that site.

Compared to here, the ESL cafe is dying (Korea portion, anyway). Ding, dong dead, no traffic.  3 new posts when I last checked.  This place is way more happening...and polite.  I really don't understand why some people who write inflammatory stuff don't get banned and others do.  There are heaps more new posts here when I check, although I can't find a "posts since last logged" function here to compare.

Never been banned there though.  Red Dog.....from the post you showed, they don't even tell you why?

Consider it a blessing. Now you don't have to look at Dave's ugly mug anymore (on every page). What's that about? I don't know any other website where the owner has his picture on it, let alone on every page. And the picture itself - just a little bit creepy.

The only reason I'm still there is that any fun argument to get involved in gets shut down by mods immediately, but the really pedantic arguments where people compete to see how many words they can get down stay.

If you ask me the only rules on a forum should be 1. No paedophilia 2. No viruses 3. Porn okay but you have to claim to be 18 when you sign up

Dave's rules are rather more strict. 'No criticising/discussing the mods' decisions' for example  :o

Careful posting stuff on waygook criticising daves... I heard they have mods acting like noobs on waygook tracking our comments here too... Only FIFA, Daves and Iran have similar policies about questioning decisions.
Until next time, I will speak to you next time.

LOL my friend (the (in)famous 'Dereck' (et al.)) got his coworker banned when the latter used Derek's computer at work to log on. I also got my sister's house in Canada perma-banned. Just use PC-방's when you log on. I might stop by one later today and see how I can test the depth's of that board's stupidity with one of my moron socks.

I think our new goal is to get every PC Bang in the country to be banned from Dave's.

I wonder how their IP systems work? I was able to log on to Dave'$ from a PC-장 in Itaewon a while back and surely someone's got banned from something they posted there. Maybe I'll try that with a sock I wouldn't mind disposing of - post something anti-Christian / anti-gay / anti-Korea / criticising mods and see if I can get the  whole place banned. I've never yet come across a PC-방 that was.

I've been banned three times. First time was for being overly hilarious, subsequent times (I assume) were because they logged my IP address.

The moderators are hilariously self-righteous and pompous. Dave makes good money from the site (again I assume) but those pedantic cretins work for free! They can't even ban anyone - they have to email their gurning overlord and ask him to do it. Waygook.org was mentioned on some post there a while ago and TheUrbanMyth (a superlatively picky and contrary poster over there) said "that site is full of posters who were unable to stick to the TOS here".

On top of the mods, the sign-up process is pretty creepy. Provide your address and a detailed reason for why you want to sign up? Please. I'm sure Der Sperlingfuhrer has everyone's details permanently filed away in some underground bunker.

The last couple of times I was banned was because I got into a petty argument with "Captain Corea". Another time about a year ago was because I was questioning Mr. Kalgukshi on an International thread. The only thing worth looking at on that site anymore is the Buy/Sell/Trade stuff.

I once had three bannings from Dave's in one day. My identity and 2 socks. As I have mentioned before one banning was a one word post: "Why?" in response to no one can ever question a Mod's decision.

A friend of mine got banned there because he responded to a post that said if foreigners here don't love Korea and Korean culture, they're just white trash morons (and that all Western culture was garbage).  My friend simply said that was one of the most racist things he had read on the site.  One sentence.  Banned immediately.

God, that guy sucks, is a major bore and a dullard to boot.

I don't mind so much getting into arguments with the likes of Urban, steel, Kuros; at least they can handle themselves well in a debate.  Craptain on the other hand has an iq of about 100 yet he still tries to grandstand and get in debates that are obviously well above his head and it annoys me.   A lot.
