A former co-teacher of mine has asked me to post this.

She works at an elementary school in Pocheon, which is east of Dongducheon and northeast of Uijeongbu.  Bus 3100 goes near the school, I'm told.  It's a small town near Camp Casey, kind of close to the border with North Korea.

They are looking for a native teacher who can begin in early April.  It is a very small town, and there are no English hakwons for the students to attend, so their level of English is quite low.  However, they are sweet kids, eager to learn, and they have good attitudes.  If you've taught in a more rural area and then taught in central Seoul, you know what I mean.

She is honestly the best co-teacher I've ever had, and I've taught at public schools in Korea for 6 years.  She will be in charge of the English program at the school, and she is amazing.  She is very supportive and her English is quite good--she studied in the US for awhile.  She just finished her Ph.D. (in English education) at Korea University.  She is one of the nicest, kindest people you will ever meet.  She has an idea of the challenges that native teachers face while in Korean public schools  (I may have complained a lot at times, haha), and she will have your back when she talks to the principal on your behalf.

I don't know about housing, summer/winter camps, vacation deskwarming, or things like that.  I've asked her to check and I'll update this as soon as I have more information.  I'm sure it's a standard GEPIK contract as far as salary, health, pension, taxes, and whatnot.

She has no preference as to the race, gender, etc. of the teacher, but she is looking for a GOOD teacher who is caring and actively trying to be the best teacher he/she can be.  Selected applicants will be asked to send a brief one-page sample lesson plan for Grade 3, "I like apples" or a similar lesson topic at a grade 3 level.

If you are interested in this position or would like more information, please send your resume and a brief letter of introduction detailing your teaching experience to Kyoung-Mi at dfstory@gmail.com .

Thank you!
