I introduced the following Phrasal Verbs complete with definitions and examples:
Turn Up
Look Up
Run Into
Hang Up
Set Off
Pass Away
Eat Out
Keep Out
Ask Out
Wake Up
Use Up
Take After
Make Up
Then I cut the attached dialogue into strips and after having placed my class into groups gave each team a ziploc bag with the jumbled dialogue inside and asked them to first: correctly order the dialogue and then re-write the dialogue using the correct phrasal verb, when appropriate. For some of my lower level high school classes, I provided them with the re-written dialogue with blank spaces inserted so all they would have to do is write the correct phrasal verb.
The first team to finish with all phrasal verbs in the correct space wins! In the case of my higher level students whom had to re-write the entire dialogue I was a little lax on the acceptable number of allowable grammatical mistakes.
