A vocab sheet and role-play. It is a shame that role play is not a part of this book, as my students love role play. I created one for them to do.

Another to follow with the scenery/setting directions in Korean. My CT is working on it.

EDIT: Just wanted everyone to know, my students are mid to low level and they were able to do the role play in the 1st lesson (that I created). It went over well. I had some of my own concerns but they did it well and enjoyed it. If your students are used to doing role play or are not church mouses, this will go over well.

Here's an introductory worksheet. It has the new vocab and the scripts for the 'look and listen' and 'look and say' parts. I have taken out some words because my students are generally higher level. Basically this is just a re-creation of a worksheet that many Korean English teachers use, but made on a good word processor (ie not hwp).

Listening game:  4 corners with teams
Use the picture cards on p201.  There are 8.  Make a team for each card.  So, for example, the students in team "notebook" should each be holding the picture of the notebook.  Place 4 book characters on the walls.  The teams split up and choose a book character to stand under.  Then, randomly assign each item to a character.  Read the sentences, such as, "Whose umbrella is this?  It's Minu's."  Then, if any of team "umbrella" is standing under the picture of Minu, they hold up their cards and get one point for each person.  Do that for all the items, then allow the students to find a new place to stand and repeat.

Speaking game:
Give each student two small squares of paper.  Each student should choose 2 items from the vocabulary and draw them.  Then, group the students.  In each group, the students put their drawings face down in the middle.  Each student is trying to guess who drew each picture.  If they guess correctly, they take that picture out of the middle and keep it as a point.  The 1st student will choose a picture from the middle, and say "Whose ____ is it?  Is it yours?" as he/she indicates another student in the group.  The other student then says "Yes, it is" or "No, it isn't."  Students should be careful not to let other students see their drawings before the game begins.

Here's a Bingo Game and a Pass the Ball.

For the Bingo, I'm going to do a double bingo, having each student draw 2 3X3 Bingo Cards - one for items and one for names. You can also do it like they suggest in the book, pairing items and names on one card, that's just not how I prepared the ppt/might require some alteration.

The pass the ball is self-explanatory, I think, practicing phrases such as "It's mine/~'s" and "Whose ~ is it?"

And here is a Mario Game and Guess What game (I melded two different types of guessing within the game, but should be fine). Both are probably suitable more for earlier periods, i.e. 1-3, as the sentences are fairly simple.

A couple of games/activities that require no PPT

Fill a bag with the kid’s stuff and have them pull it out of the bag and ask “whose ___ is this?” the person it belongs to says “It’s mine.” Then the class says “It’s his/hers”

1 person leaves the room and an object is given to 1 person. when he comes back in he says "is this yours" and the entire class says "no it isn't". the louder they say "no it isn't" the closer he is to finding the object. i usually time it and the fastest team wins.

also I have a PPT for a donald duck cartoon.  The kids like it.  Who doesn't like to watch cartoons in school.  The PPT reviews pronouns before watching the youtube clip.  here is the address incase the link doesn't work in the PPT.

These are  "Gogo's" cartoon, each about 5-6 minutes long, teaching some aspect of English.  It's perfect for our classes.   (Except they speak that funny accent  ;)   )

Now, I know it's pretty slow on waygook with the amount of materials that are being posted, but fear not... after a couple months, once people learn how to make games and whatnot,  there will be such an onslaught of bomb games, etc... being uploaded, that you can  literally plan the entire chapter's lessons, all in one shot.

Here's the last thing I have for this lesson, it's a Lucky Wheel game. Not sure how I did with the questions, so PLEASE feel free to re-word them or change as you see fit. I was trying to stay within the parameters of the key vocabulary and key sentences, so...it got a little hairy, trying to be creative. ;-)

I used the speaking game for my first period and it was a hit! Thanks for the great idea, I love it when my kids feel confident using the target language.
