I'm using this camp for elementary school Grade 3-6.

I am doing my camp with High School students. I am slowly finishing all of my prep work, when I am done I will put it all up so that you can see what I have come up with and hopefully give me some suggestions on how to improve it.

here's the link to his post: http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,1648.msg5306.html#msg5306

in the mystery/detective themed threads i think a lot of the ideas and topics overlap with this one.

my camp is more detective themed but if anyone is interested here are some activities i'm doing with the younger elementary school kids:

- here's a site with some more ideas if you're solving a mystery.  you can have the kids take foot print samples and compare them to examples on a worksheet.  here's the instructions: http://familyfun.go.com/playtime/language-learning-games/be-a-junior-detective-706968/3/

- with my 1st and 2nd graders they have to find out who ate the cookies [lil young for solver murders] so i'll have a cookie with a bite taken out of it.  the kids can take teeth samples of the teachers with styrofoam plates/cups, but this would only work if the teachers are the only suspects and compare it to the cookie evidence: http://familyfun.go.com/playtime/language-learning-games/be-a-junior-detective-706968/4/

- i also am going to have the kids make their own tools before the mystery so i'll have them make fake magnifying glasses with wooden chopstick handles, and two heavy paper "O"s they can cut out of construction paper, with saran wrap sandwitched in the middle.

if you want printouts for making more detective tools [and a paper magnifying glass, and hat] check this out: http://www.randomhouse.com/teachers/pdf/nateactivities.pdf

Thanks lildanggun I have seen that link but I am look specifically for the key that solves that puzzle cryptogram:
Final clue: Students assemble a ripped up note to find out the exact location of the murder and deduce who did it by looking at their fingerprint clue.

Alright guys I have roughly finished with my planning for my camp. Some days still need work and the powerpoints are not completely finished yet but I am running out of steam here and need some suggestions and advice on what to add or how to improve what I already have.

I apologise for any mistakes regarding anyone's country, please correct them for me.

Hello!

So I am nearly finished planning my camp and I have a rough lesson plan laid out.

Here it is.  It's a breakdown of each day and activity.

@ucla_all_the_way: I think that your camp sounds like so much fun, you have done a great job!
On day 4 you are having a mission day and I see you are not sure what to do, have a look at my day 4 to get some ideas-even though mine is for high school you can simplify the tasks drastically to suit your elementary kids (I got my ideas from taebaekluke). And for your market play on day 5 to motivate them why don't you give them fake money as a reward everyday of the camp so that when market day comes they have "money" to buy things at the market, the kids who did well will have more money.

Hope that is helpful.

Just to update this thread. I have finished my camp and it was extremely successful! I changed somethings on my lesson plan but all the kids said that it was the best camp that have had so if anyone wants my updated version let me know. :D

Sorry I was on vacation!

Some of the days I adapted as the day went by. It was a really relaxed camp though so I wasn't too stressed if the kids spent longer on a task than I had allocated.

oh and I forgot to mention about the bag with chopsticks, each chopstick has a letter on it and they must figure out the word- "Chopsticks"
