Congratulations!!! :)

I knew you would pass - I hope everything goes well and you secure a placement! Glad to have company in this waiting game lol!

UPDATE 5/16: Received an email this morning saying that my documents passed EPIK's screening process (they were received in Seoul on Thursday night USA MST time). Things seem to be moving fast on their end! According to my recruiter, if all goes well with the hiring boards, I might be seeing a contract by late June... Seriously, this is one extreme test in patience. Oh man - at least it gives me time to tackle all of those tax forms. :)

Very nice congrats! I am still waiting on my degree apostille...the one thing I could have sent out from the start but I forgot about with everything else I had to collect.
By the way, your blog post was amazing helpful! Pretty much had every question I was asked. I cheated a little, did a side by side the with skype and MS word with my answers I could read off of!  ;)

I left the most obvious things until last minute, too, ha ha ha, so don't worry... You'll get everything out in time. I'm glad my blog could help you - it didn't occur to me to do a side by side thing, to be honest, but it's awesome that worked out for you. :) Now, get excited for even more paperwork - this is a neverending process!

This has a lot of good information.  I just wanted to confirm a few things.

A. I'm guessing it's way too late to apply for EPIK at this point, is that a correct assumption?

B. If you cannot choose a city that you want to work in, will you find out what city you will work in before signing a contract?  I have absolutely NO desire at all to teach anywhere but directly in a big city or within 20 minutes of one.  My friends used Reach to Teach for teaching in Taiwan and they were able to reject contracts until they found one they liked and a city they wanted to be in.  So maybe if you have a recruiter instead of applying directly to EPIK you will be able to reject a city you don't want to live in?

C. On Reach to Teach's website it mentions that you need a lot more qualifications than it says you need on EPIK's page.  EPIK says you need a bachelors in anything, you need to have lived in an English speaking country for 10 years and you need a desire to want to teach English.  Reach to Teach says you need a teaching certificate and a bachelors in English/education.

D. Do you have to pay recruiters any money?  Do you have to pay for/mail all of your documents before or after the interview that you might fail?

I have a B.S. in Psychology (which is under the Education program's of US universities.) and graduated with a 3.84 GPA. I also was a substitute teacher for a semester.

Thanks!

p.s. This is a site about teaching ENGLISH overseas not math.  I hate the math verification questions, I'm terrible at math.  lol :-[

Hey,

EPIK is a good program. I applied, but it is a first come-first served in choosing your location. Korea has many great places, but since it is the summer, Pusan is probably one of the better locations. You can take a boat to Japan and fly to Jeju much cheaper than from any other location. You will have fun and meet many people.
