Teaching Reading
« on: March 05, 2012, 06:17:30 PM »
Hello,

I was informed today that for my grade 2 classes, I will be teaching reading, instead of listening and speaking. I have been told to use the textbook to teach the lesson. From what I understand, this is to prepare them for the reading exam later in the year.

I will be honest, I have no idea what to do. All the training I've had pretty much only emphasized listening and speaking (and that is what I understood to be the primary responsibility of the NET, particularly at the high school level). Any and all tips and ideas on teaching reading comprehension from the textbook would be appreciated. I am using High School English 1 (white cover). Thanks for your help!
