Simone Lee:
What is the process involved?
I know theres an embassy in Busan (yay!) but the website is all in Korean. How...wha...help!!!

rogue85:
I'm pretty sure there is an embassy in Seoul. As far as I know, you can't apply for a visa over the internet - you have to go to the embassy yourself. Good luck  :)

confusedsafferinkorea:
Good luck, you are going to need it with our wonderful passports   :( :(

Simone Lee:
Thanks!

Yea, well...my experience with South African bureaucratic incompetence has prepared me for the worst.

It doesn't look too bad...from what I can tell you just need your tickets, proof of accommodation and bank statements (and ARC) together with a W40 000 payment and it's issued within a day or two.

There's an embassy right here in Busan too, I might not even have to take a full day off :)

That sounds great, let us know how it goes, wouldn't mind going there myself, though my wife is a Filipina and if you think having a SA passport is bad, try having a Philippine passport, they have it so hard.

SA's Home Affairs are legendary for their incompetence. Took a year to get my passport renewed from here, they 'lost' my first application (funny all the others in the same diplomatic pouch weren't 'lost') and so far I have been waiting 18 months for an unabridged marriage certificate.

Advice to any Saffer here wanting something from Home Affairs, plan it long, long, long in advance. They suck!!
