Hello from Ildong!
« on: March 14, 2012, 09:56:21 AM »
Hi Everyone! My name is Na Ly! I just recently moved to Ildong from Reno, Nevada. I am also using the pink, yellow and green middle school text books and they are quite confusing! I am glad to see that I'm not the only one! I am looking forward to this new adventure both inside and outside of schoool!

Na Ly hello!

I'm Lauren and I just moved to Jinjeop in Namyangju and I saw that you're living in Ildong. I'm wondering if that is near Jinjeop because I saw a sign with that name on it...I think. I'm from Australia and the cold weather is quite new to me. I'm at a middle school and I officially start teaching next Monday so I'm a bit nervous.

Hey lauren! Welcome to korea! I guess we are lucky that we came at the end of winter because i guess its been a lot colder! Im so ready for spring! I think you live like 40 minutes by bus from where i live. You are the first person that lve talked to that lives anywhere near me. Have u had a chance to go into seoul yet? Im assuming u probably have to take the bus into seoul like i do. Well im up for meeting new friends! The more the merrier! We should definitley meet up in seoul whenever u get settled in. I hope your middle school kids are more well behaved than mine. My kids are out of control and im a bit stressed out. Its definitely a learning process. Good luck on your first day!

Hi Na Ly  :)

I've only been into Seoul once and that was with a group of people who really knew what they were doing. So I have to work out these buses and trains asap if I want to be a bit more independent.
Chances are that kids in middle school are all somewhat crazy ;) but I'm sure with practice comes confidence, so I give myself 2 weeks to get confident or back home! lol jk
I am def up for meeting up in Seoul when I know how to do it... :) There are a few of us foreigners in the area here in Jinjeop at least and we could use all we can get. Are you into yoga and all that jazz because a friend here does 'hot yoga' and says it's extremely relaxing. Could be a fun way to unwind, I haven't done it before though.

Lauren.

hey lauren!
The bus and subway system is really easy to use. If you download the seoul metro app you wont have any problems getting around. You just need to know your starting poing and end destination and it will tell you how long it will take, how many stops and if there are any transfers. There should be a direct bus that goes directly into seoul and leaves throughout the day.
Hot yoga sounds like fun. I believe its call bikram? I've tried it a few times. It's very relaxing after you are done. I'll have to try it sometime after work one of these days.
