Fax from Korea.....
« on: December 10, 2010, 11:16:25 am »
I desperately need to send a fax from here to Hong Kong (urgent passport stuff). Does anyone know if there are additional numbers you need if sending a fax from Korea?  Or if you've sent a fax from here what did you do?  I might be looking in the wrong places, but the internet is doing me no favours this morning.

The fax machine just keeps telling me it's the wrong number in Korean and i'm about to launch it out the window.

I know that for calls you must put 001 or 002 in front of the country code, so perhaps you must do the same for a fax
Everything is not as it seems.

No one owes you anything.... get over it.

much easier to scan it in and then use an online fax service like faxzero.com

it's possible the machine you are using is blocked for international

Each country has a fax code that you put before the area.  Google the fax code from Korea to H.K.  Hope this helps:)

Scan your file, then go to:

http://www.freefaxbutton.com/hong_kong_+852.php

Click on "Fax a file from your computer..." tab.

You'll need the PIN, which you get from here: http://www.freecallpin.com/

Changes every day. Today it is "8787"

Note: The pin is how they make their money, as you are exposed to more ads. That is why this service can be offered to you for free.

Yeah, faxzero.com is legit.  For Hong Kong I think that you have to dial 001 + 852 + (telephone number) I just checked online @ http://www.howtocallabroad.com/results.php?callfrom=korea_south&callto=hong_kong

Also, if you don't have a scanner you can just take a picture of your passport using a camera.  If you do, just make sure everything on the passport is readable.

I'm not sure about there being a specific code for faxing from country to country.  I've faxed documented home before but never needed one.

Ah thank you so much all.  This machine may live to see another day after all.
