I will start with the WD. I was going to start with monk but my friend called it lol. I am having a small lan party here and he was smart enough to call his class first.

So can someone clarify for me..

We can play on any server, but the auction house will be region locked????

So I can play with my friend in England but if I want to put anything on the market my friend won't be able to see it? What's stopping me from giving it (straight trading) with a friend and then he puts it on his auction house market?

Ahh so confusing.

This is where I'm at too.  Will we be able to utilize the auction house here?  If we DON'T have a Korean version, will be able to use it, or is it region locked?

I love when I try to post on the school computers.. only to have this old lug of a machine to fail at internet explorer.  Here's an abridged version of what I just typed...

I also think Blizzard does very well in keeping requirements down for the low-end pc's, if you don't mind running on the lowest resolution and graphic settings possible.

Are there any disadvantages to getting the digital copy, besides just not hving a disc and box?  I'm assuming it's probably a little more difficult to uninstall and reinstall on a new PC when I upgrade...

What's the verdict on downloadin the NA version here in Korea?  Will we be able to download this version and play on the NA server n order to use the Auction House?  Or will we be stuck with the Korean version, without access to the Auctin House, unless we get a hard copy shipped over here?

I actually think it makes re-installing it much easier.  When you buy a game with your Blizzard (Battle.net) account, it links that game to your account.  So if you buy D3, that particular copy of D3 will always be on your battle.net account.  You can actually re-download the entire game without having CD's from the account page.  So for example I bought WC3 back in high school or so.  I registered that copy of the game to my B.net account by typing in the cd key on my accounts website and it's saved forever, I never need to worry about the CD again.

It's definitely confusing.  I guess there are only 2 real possibilities for banning auction house for Korean players.  1 would be to block players with Korean IP addresses from accessing the auction house.  The other would be to sell a totally different game in Korea that doesn't have the auction house function.  I remember in D2 you could select which server region you wanted to play on (NA, Asia, Europe, etc.)  I don't think they could really do it that way, because they'd need a separate region for Korea or else risk blocking other Asian countries from using the auction house.  (China will probably account for 95% of their item sales so that doesn't make sense).  It may be worth sending Blizzard an e-mail asking.  I pre-ordered the NA digital copy.

Yeah I got the English Copy 2 i think. I assume I will be attached to a USA based auction house. good idea on the IP address. if you are in Korea they will ban you from the real money auction house. I hope not. I want to buy a cool axe for my barbarian. I read on the blizzard forums a lot. It said you can have any name you want. game sees your battlenet ID. does not look at your name to make a game. So you can have like 5 Conans in the same game. Or you can have 5 Legolas demon hunters in one. That is so cool. I can never get a cool name. Well this forum I got a cool one - SMAUG  :P ;D.

I want to play like through normal alone. Ill read the quests like a nerd and cry when my hat girl friend gets killed by a ninja fallen or wuteva stuff is in it. I do not want to be rushed by other players. A lan party does sound kind of cool though. I kinda want to do that. But I bet some power gamer who never gives his kids candy will rush me and I won't read all the quest  ??? :o
So yeah I will have to play with you guys on nightmare level. should take maybe ten days. It could take shorter if I get sick on Friday my 18th and have to stay in my chair to recover with mountain dew and doritos

I may play a monk l8r but the witch doctor is kinda freaky with all the evil frogs he attacks with  :o

I want to see may 15th if my students are sleepy. maybe some of them will play it all night. i promise that next monday you will have a lot of boys alseep in class.
How come your so fat? It is the many hamburger.
Do you like monkeys? Yes, I like them very much.
Monkeys are very dirty I hate them. I think monkeys are fun.
You should take a rest in a monkey home. Ok I am resting with many monkeys at home.

That's good news, I was unsure of how the digital copy would work.

I think the first option is likely the way they will do it: Ban Korean IP's from being able to access the auction house.  They could just be selling a completely different game here... but then, what about the Koreans who can just read the English options and get a NA/EU digital copy, or even us waygooks who can download other versions?  The IP version is probably the only way they can actually prevent auction house usage.....

I think a friend of mine actually has some IP hiding thing so he can use a TV streaming program here that he used in the US?  Now, what if... say, this friend of mine.. REALLY wants to use the auction house feature.  Are there ways to generate an IP address that wouldn't show as a Korean IP?

It won't be out for Xbox or PS3 any time soon, if it does.

As for a laptop... I would try online.  My friend priced laptops here and similar specs on PC's from Newegg were about $1,000 cheaper than shops here.

My limited understanding from how much they have let us play with the AH during the beta is that your AH is tied to your license, which is tied to your BNET account, which is (now) tied to your BattleTag.

Yes you can have multiple names, but not multiple BattleTags. We had a beta run through with 3 JackieChan before, for example.

As far as I understand, your NA (or whatever license you have) will be tied to your BNET account, so you will be able to play -from- here. As is the case with, for example, WoW where you have access to other language clients, they may not allow some features if you are using a non-native client outside of the region it was intended.

My existing license for D3 is listed on my BNET as a "Global license" under REGION:GLOBAL.

From the official AH FAQ.
"Due to various factors, including technology, language, and currency, there will be multiple separate auction houses serving different player communities around the world. "

"Diablo III players in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia will, by default, connect to the Americas region. By connecting to this region, players will have a wider pool of people to play with and access to a more vibrant and active auction house marketplace."

I imagine Korea will have their own AH, using the KRW.

Has anyone had any difficulty pre-ordering it? I have a UK account but a South African credit card. I bought and played Starcraft 2 with my friends in the UK while in Korea no problem, but I couldn't buy Diablo 3 last night. I'm just wondering whether they're doing some silly region locks with the credit cards.

Will Diablo III be implementing systems that allows people to buy game currency and items directly through Blizzard, or will there be a bunch of farmers ninja'ing stuff and camping good areas to farm for items?

Through the AH, I believe you can purchase items (why Blizz wouldn't implement this option in order to generate further revenue is beyond me).  As for farmers nina'ing items... are you referring to the type of gameplay in WoW?  Diablo games allow you to create a game (which randomizes monsters, drops, etc) and play by yourself.  You can make the game public and have people or join... or make it password protected so it's Only you and whoever you may invite.

Thanks for the info Random. Although, I've heard that there won't be an AH here (which almost stalled the release) because Korean officials felt it was too close breaching anti-gambling laws here.  What are your thoughts on this and how we may be able to connect to the AH from here?  If all else fails... I hope I'll atleast be able to have friends post for me from the States..

Very excited for D3.

I'll definitely be playing on the Korean servers, trying to play on the harder difficulties with a high ping would be tough.

Question for everyone. I tried to get a Korean battlenet account yesterday only to have my RID rejected. Anyone had any success getting a Korean account? What did you do?

From what I've gathered, Korea will have it's own server for D3. So the money AH will be banned on that server. Additionally, the Korean versions playing on other servers will only be able to access the gold AH. I suppose some koreans could get around this by doing a false registration listing their location as Europe/The US.
For those interested, it was impossible for me to register my location as korea (as they required my ARC, and the foreigner ARC number didn't work), So I'll be in the clear :D

Edit: For those wondering. You can still register as American, and download either a US, EU, KR, FR client, and PLAY on whatever server you want. (though, I'm a bit worried that the Korean server will be subsequently be locked, only allowing Koreans in.)

That's what I'm worried about. I definitely want to play on Korean servers, so don't wanna pre-order on an EU or American B-net account without knowing whether or not that will lock me out of Korea.

My understanding is that you can not get a Korean BNET account (for WoW, as an example) without a national ID card? Is this incorrect? I would think that would prevent you from playing with your Korean friends in Korea anyway. You can always do the PC bang thing though.

If you pre-order D3, for example, on your North American account, your license is a global distribution, you can play it anywhere, but your client will be hexed into the North American servers. Normally, you could get the Korean game client, and still play on NA servers. Likewise, about a week after release, there will be instructions on how to change your client's DLLs to get access to foreign portals. Don't worry.

Ninja looting is not a problem, all the loot you see is unique for your character. You only see your own loot. Other characters see their loot.

I think the issue for South Korean auction house was specifically bout the REAL MONEY auction house. The in game gold auction house should still be available. I imagine they will release a mobile AH app like they did for their other games as well. If nothing else, you won't "need" to start grinding AH items until very late in play. Min-maxing before getting to the third or fourth difficulty is not really going to be as productive on returns as it was in D2E. If nothing else, you will still  be able to pass items back and forth.

Players will find a way to get their loot, have faith.

The last few replies have been extremely helpful, thank you guys.

I could care less about the money AH (Although, late in game when my characters have ideal builds... who needs a few extra WF's, GF's or soj's?  Better to sell 'em off!), I just want to be able to trade openly instead of the old way; looking at games and channels on b.net or going to forums.  There will be a lot less time wasted with the new AH I feel, even if it is just passing in game currency (gold, gems, runes, etc).

Now that I don't really have to worry about that... how do you think our ping will be playing on NA or EU servers while here in Korea?  I know that when I play League of Legends here, I can play 5 person games, but can't play 10 person games on the NA server.  Do you think this might be the case, where we just may be restricted to smaller games, or will we have no bounds even while here?  I trust that B.net is a bit better than (the free) League of Legends servers, but who knows?

Do you think there will be any items that turn into standard currency? I.e., Pgems, Runes, and soj's?  And on that topic... will there be the legendary unique ring? (perhaps with different stats)  Stone of Jordan rings are so ingrained in d2 players minds... it'd be kind of a kick in the face not to bring back the item in some shape or form.

Blizz is trying to make it so gold retains value in D3, so presumably we'll be trading for gold a lot.

Also, the pants ****ting-ly insane number of gems needed to make the highest quality will make them very valuable.

Hey guys regarding your ping playing on other servers...

If Diablo 3 is anything like the Starcraft 2 servers it should be smooth. I played on the EU servers with a friend in Europe and my brother and two other friends who played on the same server from South Africa. So we were playing from 3 different continents and we never experienced any lag (even after few hundred games together). Although, some of us had to turn down their graphics from Ultra or it did cause problems.

I'm really hope that Diablo 3 will be the same.

Has anyone had any problems pre-ordering the game? My credit card didn't work and I'm not sure whether it has has to do with it being new.. or some weird region lock.
