I actually think it makes re-installing it much easier.  When you buy a game with your Blizzard (Battle.net) account, it links that game to your account.  So if you buy D3, that particular copy of D3 will always be on your battle.net account.  You can actually re-download the entire game without having CD's from the account page.  So for example I bought WC3 back in high school or so.  I registered that copy of the game to my B.net account by typing in the cd key on my accounts website and it's saved forever, I never need to worry about the CD again.

It's definitely confusing.  I guess there are only 2 real possibilities for banning auction house for Korean players.  1 would be to block players with Korean IP addresses from accessing the auction house.  The other would be to sell a totally different game in Korea that doesn't have the auction house function.  I remember in D2 you could select which server region you wanted to play on (NA, Asia, Europe, etc.)  I don't think they could really do it that way, because they'd need a separate region for Korea or else risk blocking other Asian countries from using the auction house.  (China will probably account for 95% of their item sales so that doesn't make sense).  It may be worth sending Blizzard an e-mail asking.  I pre-ordered the NA digital copy.

That's good news, I was unsure of how the digital copy would work.

I think the first option is likely the way they will do it: Ban Korean IP's from being able to access the auction house.  They could just be selling a completely different game here... but then, what about the Koreans who can just read the English options and get a NA/EU digital copy, or even us waygooks who can download other versions?  The IP version is probably the only way they can actually prevent auction house usage.....

I think a friend of mine actually has some IP hiding thing so he can use a TV streaming program here that he used in the US?  Now, what if... say, this friend of mine.. REALLY wants to use the auction house feature.  Are there ways to generate an IP address that wouldn't show as a Korean IP?

There are various VPN services that can be used to fake an american IP address. I use one called StrongVPN...and I use it regularly to get US deals off of Steam from outside of the US ^_^. The downside is they cost $XX per month, and they aren't designed for fast speeds or a lot of internet traffic :P.

Haha, good info about the ip address action, thanks guys!  I am really hoping it doesn't come down to that though.

Do you know if the ENTIRE AH will be banned from here, or just access to using real money?  I'm not pumping any more money than the 59.95 I spent on the game... but I'm definitely going to need to generate gold with all of the random crap I find that is unecessary.

Also, When is the release date EXACTLY?!  I think I'm 17 hours ahead of Pac time... so it is 5:00 pm when it reaches midnight there.

-Will the game be released at midnight May 15th?  Will this be Pac time, since Blizzard is located on the West coast... or will it succomb to the ever popular trend of Eastern bias (basing everything on ET).

-If it is release May 15th at midnight, we should, hypothetically, be able to download the game at 5:00 pm our time, on May 16th?

I've been waiting for this game for 10 years... every second counts, lol.....

Servers go live 12:01am PST which is 4:01pm here.

Anyone know how to play the D3 client in a PC bang?

I can't find a link to where I read this, but I think each region will have a different release time.  But if we are playing on US servers, that time will be correct.

I imagine a number of the PC bangs will install the game themselves.  It's a Blizzard game, they should be on top of it.  Hypothetically you could log into your b.net account and download it from Blizzard's website?  I'd ask the PC bang workers tho.

Is anyone else getting the game and actually not going to play it online? I know I am. So I want to know where I can buy the English version of D3 here in Korea? I found an English version of a PS3 game that I really want on Gmarket and it cost over $100! Will I have to get the online version somehow?

Thanks for the reply.  I didn't realize PC bangs downloaded popular game clients.  I wasn't sure if having the client on a usb drive would work and no one wants to spend hours downloading the client from bnet every time they want to play.  Fingers crossed.

You have to be connected to the internet to play single player.  Minimized cheating and whatnot.  You can pre-order the digital version from battle.net.

I don't wanna be the bearer of bad news, but Diablo 3 won't be playable offline.  Blizzard is requiring players to play online.

Your best bet is to order it online and just download it from your account page on Blizzard/Battle.net.

Here's info on no-offline play :

That's true.  The PC bangs I've been to have had WC3, WoW, SC3 installed.  I'm not sure what the reception of D3 will be like in Korea.  Is there high anticipation or nobody cares?  Could be fun to play with locals if it becomes popular.

similar to WoW, i get the feeling that d3 wont be extremely popular here due to the high number of local companies designing their own mmos/action rpgs.  that being said, i still think a good number of pc bangs will still have it installed (eventually) cuz like you said, its a blizzard game

Not playable offline!?  Such a mistake... just like with SC2.  I was able to play offline, but it was still difficult.  I was working full-time, college full-time, and couldn't justify a $50/mo internet bill.  But I still forked over the money for the game, because I was that devoted of a fan.  If I was in the same situation and didn't have internet (which I, fortunately, do now), I would not be happy with Blizzard.  Minimize cheating my ass.

Anyhow... Sounds like you guys should be able to play in the PC bangs!  That's good news..

So 4:00 Our time on May 16th... I won't be home from work until 5!  That's a whole hour of lost play :P

I assume most PC bangs with have it, maybe even a bonus. League of Legends is getting huge here. Premium PC bags offer a bonus to in game currency earning and unlocking all champions to play while at the PC bang.

Why don't we make a list of of B.net tags on the US server so we can coordinate and play (particularly when all our friends in that zone are on completely different schedules!)

Will there be different serverse for East/West?
