When is the best time to send money home?

I was wondering if certain times of the year or month were better for sending money home to the U.S.?  I want to get the best exchange rate possible.

I have sent money home every month for the last 2 1/2 years and it doesn't seem there's a particular day of the month or month of the year that's always better.  What I do is sign up for a daily email on the exchange rate so that I know if it's in a dip or surge lately.  That way I know if I should wait a week or try to transfer extra or something.  The rate has been stuck at around 88 cents to 1000won this year.  For instance, things like situations with North Korea make the exchange rate temporarily worsen.  Last week the exchange rate was worse because of the rocket launch situation, so I would have waited for a week for things to return to a more normal number.

There are people who make a living betting on the swing of a couple of cents in the exchange rate. There is no way for someone without inside knowledge to time the exchange rate. If someone could, they would be a millionaire, not posting on here.

I would also just send it home home whenever its convenient. Trying to play the stock market (or exchange rate) just wears you down. If you send it home and the next day would have been better, just cut your (minimal) losses and move on.  :)

Exchange rates fluctuate daily and throughout the week. You could always check economic articles and they do project where the WON move at towards the end of the week. Of course, you can never be too sure.

I've noticed that it usually peaks in the summer months, June-August.
