No hot water

For some reason I can't get any hot water and the middle light on the panel is flashing, does anyone know what this means and how I can rectify? Thanks.

You might have to bleed the boiler. It's impossible to know without knowing what model your boiler is, but bleeding it is easy.

Go outside and find your boiler box, thing. It should have instructions how to do it on the outside. Mine had pictures, so you don't need to be able to understand the instructions. You should be able to find a little valve. Turn it until water starts coming out. I'm not sure how long you're supposed to let the water come out. I usually let it run for about 20 seconds.

Try to post up a photo of your boiler control panel and the box its self.

Do you have gas?  Check the gas taps leading to the apartment and leading to the boiler.  If you have a gas stove, see if it is working.  Naturally, you should know if someone has turned the taps off *in* your apartment, but maybe the outside one is off, or maybe the gas has been turned off for the whole building for maintenance or something.

The same thing happened to me two weeks ago. The little orange light kept flashing, but I had no warm water and my underfloor heating didn't work either. I did have gas for my stove, however. ???

The only solution was for my co-t to phone a guy. It literally took less than 2 minutes for the guy to enter my place, adjust something in my geyser/boiler and leave. I'm not sure what he did, but I'm sure I could have done it if only someone told me.

I did try to bleed it, but it didn't seem to work (of course I could have been doing it wrong).

Tell your co-t, or ask the maintenance people at your building if you can't figure it out on your own. I had to take cold showers just as a bad cold hit me, not pleasant. :'(

Good luck ;)

Thanks for the help. I spoke to my co-teacher and she said the tank just needs to refill with water or something, she said not to worry but I am not convinced. I'll see if it's still flashing when I get back to my apartment and go from there. I need a hot shower.

You might see what unplugging for a minute or so will do. I had a problem with my boiler during the winter. I called the service number and told them what the problem was and they suggested I unplug it and see if it resumed normal service after plugging it in again. And, in my case it worked.
