BOMBerman Worlds Battleship Game
« on: April 23, 2012, 06:40:26 PM »
This is a fun game Ive played with my afterschool class but you can use it for anything.

In a battleship fashion the aim of the game is to blow up each teams "Home Planet"
Every team chooses a home planet on the battle screen (slide 4). Then they take turns answering the questions provided. If they get the question right they will receive a BOMB. Red BOMBS will let them attack a rival planet.
If a planet is hit three times (you can change the amount) then their team is out of the game. Black BOMBs are misses. If someone gets a black bomb every team is safe for one turn.

The team with their planet intact and has the least amount of damages will win. In case of a tie have a sudden death question ready.

please read slide notes for extra info on how to navigate through the game. This copy I have attached below is a template game so you can add your own questions.

This is amazing!!!!

Really great powerpoint work, I would'nt know where to start in creating this for myself. Many kids are going to have so much fun with it, especially the biggest kid writing here.

Thanks so much for creating and then sharing this I am so very grateful.

Obee
(may the force be with you)

Here is an updated version of the game...

I made 14 planets... (now you can have students as a pair team).

They can get a red-bomb if they answer right and hit any planet.
Black bomb if they don't answer right (miss).

I printed out the planet names and gave them to each pair. I told them it's a secret and to not share what planet they were with other teams... so they didn't whom they hit (just randomly hit a planet).

Also 2 hits and the planet dies.

To encourage them to answer eagarly... if their planet died... I gave them homework on past participle

The questions are not related to any topic but just random English questions (medium to difficult level for middle school)

(you need to change slide 18 and 19 because those are specific questions related to me)

Thanks for posting, this looks great! I've got a small after-school class, so what I'm going to do is to give each group a set of planets, like in Risk, and we'll see which team is the most bombarded by the end of the game haha. Thanks both to the OP and to boll for modifying.

if the teams know which planet is assigned to which team.....the best teams will get bombed first....
unless the kids have been fighting....then its all about revenge.

At least I found that happens in a boys middle school

I love this idea.

I'll be making my own version of the game from scratch in Template mode and I will share it with you later! Maybe in a week or so.

I love when someone motivates me to create something!

This game is awesome! Thank you SO much for contributing!

I am probably just wicked stupid, but on my downloaded version all of the questions reveal red bombs...it mentioned that the black ones mean that everyone is safe? Is anyone else finding that every question is a red bomb, or is it just me?

I can easily change it, I suppose, just thought I would bring it to attention if it wasn't just me  ;D

Thanks again! Can't wait to use it on Monday with my crazy 3rd graders!

I think that in bolls version of the game any team who get's the answer right will get a red bomb automatically and will always have the change to hit a planet. If they get it wrong than you give them a black bomb (it represents a "miss" and you can click it to hyperlink you back to the main question page with no opportunity to hit any planet.

In my version I had black bombs and red bombs given for each question so that it would lengthen the game  and I wouldn't have one team die in the first 3 turns, but I also had only 8 planets.

Its up to you how you want to distribute the bombs. I personally like the randomness of the red and black bombs but in bolls version with 16 planets to hit, (if every team gets more than 2 planets) then using only red bombs is a good idea or else the game could end without any team really winning

This looks amazing and I think even my college students will like this too.  I'm not quite sure yet.  They like Mario, but that became old very quickly.

Thanks for bringing back a classic video game!

SO I've re-worked Boll's version (there were a few small bugs that my computer was picking up)

I kept 14 planets on the screen.

I made 6 teams

Each team was secretly assigned 2 planets.

I also assigned myself and my co-teacher a planet.

If my planet / or my co-teacher's planet died there would be consequences. You can think of your own punishment. I just killed off the teams planet that killed mine. My co teacher randomly bombed two planets.
(the students LOVED this because I always ended up dying really early)

Attached is the re-worked version. Please note that the questions are specific for my class so you will have to change most of them.

Some questions have black bombs which I call "misses" You can delete and add red bombs if you desire. I like adding random miss bombs because it keeps the game going.

Enjoy!

Awesome template!  I'm not sure if I could make it long enough for my classes (I'm trying to find games/activites for this last few days of classes) but I'll play around with it and see.  Thanks for uploading!
