Is it good to dance in the classroom for the lower levels?
jordanyellin1:
I have a lot of singing and dancing videos in my class. What are anyone's views regarding dancing to in-class videos? Does it make a teacher seem less professional and unserious, or is it OK to get involved?
justanotherwaygook:
I see no issue IF you make the students do it along with you.

 Sometimes a teacher needs to establish rapport with the students to liven up a class. Nobody wants to sit through a hour of boring vocabulary skills. Imagine yourself back in your grade school days. As a student.....would you want to do a variety of activities....dancing... games etc with a fun teacher or do boring vocabulary drills with MS. Boring60 something crazy cat lady?
Also, recent studies have shown that children learn best by utilizing varied techniques that that take into account the difference kinetic auditory and visual learning styles.
I wholeheartedly believe that students learn better because the teacher has adjusted the lesson enough for (Auditory), Dancing ( Kinetic), and Visual ( Video) learners.
Students, unfairly, get turned on to or off to different subjects because of the teachers they had growing up.
One can be a professional and still dance in class....

Why not if it helps liven up the lesson? In fact, you could make it a prize for students to compete for! ;D
egarl:
Be careful that the students don't start seeing you has a clown and not a teacher.
