Hey again. I've tried googling and navering to find somewhere to buy good raw denim jeans in Seoul, and I thought since it's so much closer to Japan, there might be more of a presence of it here, but alas - I can't find anywhere.

These are pretty standard international brands, but even in the big malls and around Gangnam I've not been able to find anywhere selling them.

Suggestions?

My problem is I find even with measurements, I need to be able to physically try my raw denim on before I buy it. I never, ever buy online.

But thanks :(

Also, good lord - I've never seen Carhartt raw denim - those are so sexy.

Hah, I was quite surprised to see this topic on Waygook.  I'll give you the rundown on the denim game out here.

APC is going to be the easiest to find.  Check out A Land or the Galleria.  You'll pay around 230
You can also check at Dior at The Galleria.
Nudie is pretty popular (with Koreans of course) but I have no idea where they get it. I'm guessing online
You can find April 77 at A Land or San Fransisco Market (Apgujoeng, and the outlet is in Myeongdong)
If all else fails you can always check out Uniqlo's raw selvedge for 50

In 3 years I haven't come across Samurai or Naked and Famous out here.  If you're interested in a slighly used pair of N&F and you wear a 29 let me know. They're too small for me now.

Basically, if you're not into APC you'll have to take a trip to Japan.

What's the deal with April 77? I don't know that brand.

Also, this makes me sad. I'm about 2 months away from needing to break a new pair of jeans in.

April 77 is a French company specializing in outfittinng rockstars.  I tried them on but their standard inseam was too short for me. ( I'm 6' 2").

Have you tried APC?  I've bought 2 pairs here and I've been really happy with them. After a year I had a small hole patched at The Galleria. It was only 10,000, the quality of the work done would have cost over 50 dollars back home and a girl from the store came out to my subway station to deliver them to me.  That's what I call service!

Yeah, Koreans seem to be more into flashy brands like True Religion and Diesel.

Yeah... APCs fit me really weirdly. Cures are too skinny, and standards just seem like they have no cut at all.

Before I came here I almost bught a pair of kickass Nudie Grim Tims, but I ended up not getting them cause I thought there'd be tons of cool denim here.

http://www.selfedge.com/shop/

They ship Worldwide for FREE and carry better jeans than N&F and Nudies.  You can also have your denim chainstiched hemmed as well.

Update:

I just found a place in Yongsan with a VERY small selection of Nudies. They had a few Slim Jims and a few Grim Tims, all size 28 / 29. It's in the lower section of the electronics mall that connects to the subway station. Also, horrifically expensive: 390,000 won.

Didn't buy them, but just sayin'.

Yeah with free shipping you might as well buy your Nudies from Self Edge and have them sent here.

Yeah.. I also thought with the close proximity to Japan, dry denim would be easier to find here. Was spoiled for choice in Japan but didn't fully take advantage during my time there!

I ended up picking up a pair of Nudie's - after a fruitless search for some Skulls (really wanted a 2nd pair cos I love the ones I have now) or Samurai in Seoul I ended up just asking a guy working in a cafe where het got his Nudie jeans from, and found that there's a shop in Kangnam called Cultizm (not sure how or if it's related to the European webstore of the same name, but their logo is the same!) - to my knowledge I think they stock the entire Nudie range of jeans as well as some other stuff like t-shirts, wallets etc. Their website is http://www.cultizm.net/index.jsp and the address is at the bottom - put it into google maps, it's not far from Cinecity and is on the 2nd floor of a building above a Paris Baguette (or Paris Croissant, I can't remember)

if Cultizm has jeans in store for the same price as their website, that'd be phenomenal.

I assume they are... I got a pair of Grim Tim Dry Selvedge a few months back when they came out and they cost 277,000W - can't find them on the site, but it seems about right! Their site doesn't seem to be working at the moment (at least on my computer) - if you wanna contact them their email is nudiejeans@naver.com

FYI!  If you get clothes shipped here with a price tag still on them you will get charged an extremely large tax.  I got a pair of boots shipped here from London with free shipping.  They were about 300,000 won and I was charged an additional 75,000 won import tax :(

After that I just sent things to my parents, had them take off the tags then ship it over and it ends up being cheaper.

Awesome to hear about the Cultizm, just emailed the guy.  Thanks

Did you ever hear back from Cultizm after emailing them?

I found another place near Times Square mall that had like four pairs of Nudies - disappointing.

I should have mentioned that when I emailed the guy before it was in Korean - no idea if they can speak English or not, but as all the staff seem to be in their 20s I guess they should be able to at least get by if you ask something. If you're near Gangnam I'd recommend you just go check the place out, it's not that hard to find and is pretty well stocked size-wise (ask if your size isn't on the rack as they have a small stockroom behind the counter).

He emailed me back in broken English.  He recommended I use the England Cultizm for English services  ::) I just asked if I could order online by e-mail (because I couldn't figure how all the ordering in Korean).  I think it'd be best to just checked out the shop!

if you check out some of the skate and skate culture oriented clothing stores they will usually have some brands of raw denim.  Not the the high quality of APC, Iron heart, 3sixteen, and what not but decent ones like cheap monday.

APCs are one the best raw denim jeans in price and quality.  IMO just size down two to three inches and in a couple weeks those tight jeans will fit perfectly.

and sorry to say I think Nudies are overrated...

Was just in Garosugil in Sinsa yesterday and saw a shop that sold Naked and Famous for men.  They had Weirdguys/Slimguys for about 250,000 won.
