A quick search of raw denim in Korea led me to this site, and Im glad it did. Its nice to know that there are some people into denim on this site. I would have thought Korea would have a larger selection of denim as well. It makes me regret not picking up a pair of APC's when I was in NY a couple of weeks ago.

Have you tried APC?  I've bought 2 pairs here and I've been really happy with them. After a year I had a small hole patched at The Galleria. It was only 10,000, the quality of the work done would have cost over 50 dollars back home and a girl from the store came out to my subway station to deliver them to me.  That's what I call service!

Yeah, Koreans seem to be more into flashy brands like True Religion and Diesel.

jdniii,

do remember the name of th place in The Galleria were you got the repair done? I've got a hole in my Nudies and am looking for options on how to get them fixed up. Thanks

Hey - I blew out the crotches of both my N&F and my Nudies, and I took them to my local dry cleaner. For 10,000won they fixed both, and fixed them better than my tailor back home in Canada did for $20 a pair.

Koreans seem like they're pretty reliable when it comes to their repairs and alterations.

I have been trying to find some Nudie High Kai's or Tight Long Johns.  I have not been able to find any.  I went to a shop in Pyeongteak and the Nudies were obviously fake.  I'm willing to try APC- new standards-but I don't feel like sizing down two sizes and waiting to break them in.  I feel like APCs take the longest to break in.  I really want some nice, raw, selvage, chain stitched denim.  If anyone can help me that would be great.  Side note- can I be directed to a place that wont try to rip me off cause I'm a girl?  I know my denim.  I worked at a premium denim shop for 3 years.  www.denimbaronline.com

This might be the sexiest thing anyone's ever posted on Waygook.

They have a very, VERY small selection of Nudies at a place called The Denim in Yongsan: mostly Slim Jims. They also wouldn't let me try them on. Out of all the places I've bought my raw denim at, I've never had one had issues with me trying them on in the shop. Annoying.

I've heard there's a place in Gangnam called Cultizm that has reasonable prices on legit Nudies, N&F, and APC, but I haven't been there to confirm it myself. Their website at cultizm.net is also down, apparently.

Again, if anyone finds somewhere decent to get some good denim in Korea, let us know!

I posted this before but have more info this time...

There's a shop called cultizm.net in Gangnam that is basically a Nudies store - not sure if they even stock other brands to be honest. Unfortunately their website is under construction at the moment but you can find them on this map - http://tinyurl.com/6z5nlbx - if you zoom in you'll see a Paris Baguette at that location and the store is on the 2nd floor above it. When I last went there they had the entire range of jeans in stock so it's probably your best bet in Seoul.

Apparently their English isn't too hot but if you can speak a bit of Korean their number is 02-586-7592 and email is nudiejeans@naver.com

Thanks for the help guys.  I'll check out those shops this weekend.  If it doesn't work out I'll buy some jeans online. . . . I guess.

Oh really eh, ah yeah that's where I'm at right now with my pair. Did you have any issues language wise? Were you able to give them some idea of what you wanted or did they seem to know what to do once you showed them the tear. Just worried about worst case scenario. Thanks

APC has an actual official store at the Galleria.  I had it fixed through them, but I'm sure they just took them to a local tailor.  I've brought a pair of Samurais there at the same time and they fixed them as well.  We are in tailor paradise (for the price). Just print a picture of the kind of repair your looking for from SUFU and give it to the tailor :)

This. Exactly.

Like I said, I went to my favourite hipster chick tailor back home in Victoria, who used to charge $20 per major repair. Got the same thing done for 1/4 the price at the dry cleaner around the corner, who did an as-good if not better job.

another question, first time doing a repair, what kind of fabric did you guys use from the tailors here? I emailed Nudie for the repair patch thing, but at this point don't really have time to wait for it.

How big is the hole? If it's just a really small one, they can fix it with thread alone (I'm super anal about my repairs, too). Otherwise, it's more than likely that they have some spare dark denim that'll patch it up fine. Raw denim really isn't necessary just for a small repair.

Update!!

I went to the Cultizm shop, which has moved to near Sinsa station. The staff are amazing, and the place was full of denim nerds. They have an almost complete line of Nudies, all of which are actually cheaper than they were back in Canada. I got a pair of dirt dry organic Grim Tims for 190,000.

Highly recommend it. They don't speak much English, but they know their stock ridiculously well. If you have any questions, someone will be able to answer you, even if there's a bit of a language barrier.

Now - time to break these Tims in before summer comes!

Anyone have any idea about some light-weight raw denim.

Because of Korea's oppressive summer weather, wearing 13.5 oz (ounces) raw denim (APC petite standards) is like a sauna for my legs.  Can someone recommend some more light weight raw denim to wear during the summer?

I heard there was some raw denim that were around 9 oz  (ounces)

Honestly, and it pains me to say this, because I'm usually raw denim or no denim, if you're going to go that light, don't bother with raw denim. Get something with a little bit of stretch, because otherwise they're going to wear out like nobody's business.

Also, I don't know who moved this topic into "Buy, Sell, and Trade" but this is clearly not the right forum for it, since none of us are either trying to buy, sell, or trade jeans with anyone else on Waygook.
