Any good TV shows for guys?

(1/3) > >>

soerabol:
Hi, Can anyone recommend a good Korean TV show that can be found with English subs?
I'm a dude so nothing too girly or romantic please:)

I watched a few episodes from the first season of High Kick and quite liked them.
It's relatively funny and seems to be very useful for picking up common phrases used among family members and close friends.
I'd say some of the historical dramas would be interesting,
but the language they use might not be as useful if they are using outdated expressions.
Any ideas?

While I'm at it I would like to recommend a webtoon called Penguin loves Mev.
It's about the life of a Korean girl(the cartoonist) and her English husband.
The later episodes have English translations, but are a little less funny.
In the beginning they live in Korean and then they move to England.
Check it out.

overdrive2023x:
Iris (2008). Biggest budget drama (at the time) and has Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee (Two of the biggest stars in Korea). Can't go wrong. It's a spy espionage thriller love story conspiracy drama.

"running man" is great too. it's not a drama, but it's one of the better Korean reality shows that's on right now.

basically it's urban games. very funny.

Meat_Sanchez:
I might give "Running Man" a shot.  It seems to be a pretty popular show...

Seoulman79:
"Running man" is good... I am (was) a fan of "Moo Han Dojeon"(?) as well.  Probably Koreas longest standing comedy show until recently when trouble within MBC caused it to halt production, hopefully it will get resolved soon so the show will return.

I remember "Iris" when it first aired and was quite impressed after the first couple of episodes but I quickly got disapointed with the predictability and cheesiness of the story.  But don't let that stop you checking it out.

Too be honest I'm not a fan of Korean drama simply for the reasons I mentioned above.  I much prefer the Korean movies...  If you haven't already seen them, check out

I saw the devil -

Oldboy,

Joint Security Area,

Voice of a murderer (based on a true story) -

Magnificent vacation (based on the story of the uprising in Gwangju in the 80's) -

Silmido (based on true story) - you can watch the full movie on youtube with Eng. subs

Hope some of these are to your taste....  let me know what you think or if you have watched any other Korean shows movies you think I'd like.... :D
