Places close to Korea to visit with a 4 year old in tow.
« on: May 11, 2012, 06:43:12 PM »
My husband is going to Laos over summer vacation but we think our son is a bit young for that.

So I'm trying to put together a short, reasonably cheap vacation for my 4 year old and I.  I'm looking at Taiwan, Hong Kong or maybe Malaysia.  I don't want anywhere with a hugely long flight (again, 4 year old) and I need somewhere semi kid friendly.

Just wanted to hear some suggestions from folks!

I went to Hong Kong last year.  I think the tourist attractions there are quite kid friendly.  We did a sunset tour to Lamma island, they took us to the fishing villages and we tried fishing without hooks (there was actually a 4 year old girl with us on the boat and when we got to the fishing village, they took out all kinds of sea animals and she could touch or hold them).  From there we had a seafood dinner.  Which the girl seemed to enjoy too.  Then they stopped in the harbor and we saw the symphony of lights show.   It was really nice!!  (I think a 4 year old will enjoy it)

We also took a day trip to Ngong Ping and did the 360 tour (http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/attractions/outlying-ngongping-360.html)  it included a bunch of places, but the main one was the cable car to the giant buddha.   the cable car ride is long!  but so worth it!  it was gorgeous!  and high!  i think a four year old would love it.

Another place we went to was The Peak -- pretty view, but you'll have to check it out to see if you think it's worth it:  http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/attractions/hk-peak.html

Check out this site though: there's a BUNCH of stuff and I remember seeing something about a big zoo too.. I'm sure you'll find something.  Also. there are a few different flight options, but our flight with Cathay Pacific was like 4 hours I think.  Perfect.
