Gmarket Delivery
« on: May 14, 2012, 07:28:29 PM »
I am looking at getting some stuff delivered to my home from Gmarket in Geoje.

However it is likely that they will delivery while I am working between 0830 and 1630 and thus I will likley miss any delivery.

What happens when someone is not at home when Gmarket delivers?

Do they send a text message, do they drop it off at the local store or do they try and deliver it again? And I assume and notes or messages are in Korean?

Best tip is to have it delivered to your school.  There is always someone there to receive things.

I have my stuff delivered to my public school but only small easy to carry things like candy or what not.

If it's something big, you can try including a memo when you order telling them what time it's best for them to deliver. You can also try to have your CT contact the seller, that is if you work at a school.

If someone were not it for delivery would they come back again or would it be dropped of somewhere else like the local family mart?

You'll have to go and get it from the place.  Have them bring it to your school.  It's the best option.  cheers.

In my old officetel, they just left it with my doorman. Here, in this old apt., they leave it with the little convenience store right below me. They always text. About other places, I can't say so much.

In my experience, it's different with every delivery company. Not all Gmarket sellers will work with the same delivery company. They will causally call or text to see if you are home.

If I'm at work and miss their call, some delivery workers will come to my apartment anyways and leave a note either saying they attempted delivery and to call them or that they left my package with the building manager. Some of them will text to tell me they left my package in the boiler room that is next to my door.

I have had things sent back to the seller a couple times because I wasn't home when the delivery person knocked on my door or there was a miscommunication due to language barrier when they called. The sellers contacted me and I either chose a refund or had them deliver to my school.

I feel weird using the school as my own personal post office, so I just had my CT write me up a little, "If I'm not home, please leave it at Family Mart" message. There's a memo line on the order page where you can put things like that - or if they call/text me about delivery, I copy/paste that to them. My apartment building is too small to have a security/entrance/whatever office and the Family Mart is about 10 feet away, so that's the best course of action for me.

Using Family Mart as your own personal post office is better than your school?

Usually, when you order from Gmarket, there's a spot to indicate any delivery/special messages. Just write (in Korean) that you can only accept deliveries after 5pm. Other than that, your co-teacher will be priceless in calling/assisting.

What is the Korean for "I can only accept deliveries after 5pm" so this can be copied and pasted for use in Gmarket purchases.

(Just for the record in case someone searches for this question in future.)

I ordered my goods online. The delivery time was overnight and I requested delivery after 1700 in English and this was noted in the delivery details.

I received a text at mid day (in Korean saying that delivery would be that day). After the text I got my goods delivered after 1700 by Korea post. The Gmarket website did track delivery of the goods but all the tracking details were in Korean. Google/Bing translate will be useful.

Overall I am happy with the whole process getting the goods delivered to my home after I finished work.
