I'm looking to visit Damyang this weekend, and I'm curious if there are any reasonable places to stay???  Any suggestions about a trip to the Bamboo Forest, or areas near there would be much appreciated!

Damyang is not a big city at all.  I'm sure you can find a love motel there.  Also, it's only a 30 minute busride from Gwangju, so if you're looking to do more than just chill at the bamboo forest, it'd be easier to just get a motel in Gwangju and bus into Damyang.   More options and more fun, too!

I recommend that you check out the tour bus for Damyang leaving from Gwangju ktx station. My parents did this tour last month, it was cheap 17,000won and takes you everywhere you need to go from 10am-5:30pm. They didn't have a tour guide that spoke english because I booked them last minute, but they said it wasn't a big deal since they got to make friends with other korean tourists.

Instead you could sleep in Gwangju, plenty of motels right around the station (aprox: 30,000 won) and discover the area.
