Radiation in korea
iwunderr007:
Not to be an alarmist but anyone heard of low-level contamination of food supplies in korea?
Here is a link that shows the result of airborne contamination inthe states
??? ???
Crazy stuff....

Then don't be one. This is pure hysteria, nothing more. He even admits in the video that the levels are 2000 times less than allowable by food safety regulations.
If you want to worry about airborne radiological contamination, then worry about the bomb tests that were done in the 50s, where radioactive material was actively blasted into the atmosphere. Most of the non-naturally occurring radioactive material floating around in the environment today is residue from those blasts.
Fukushima is a drop in the ocean in comparison.
(Speaking of which, what leaked into the ocean off the coast of Japan is a much bigger problem than what leaked into the air.)

Thanks for the feedback and appreciate the reassurance. I guess I am an alarmist cause this stuff freaks me out.
I read that If you are a 25 year old male, the body will be able to handle low level contamination better than woman and kids.
And to be honest, I am more concerned about kids After watching the video, I can't imagine that eating/ breathing inaround 30 different nuclides is harmless.
The main reason for the worry is because of a Canadian scientist who worked Atomic Energy of Canada Whiteshell Nuclear Research Establishment, Manitoba found.
Basically, he says low level is more damaging than high-level radiation.

The people on the Potr blog seem legit and smart enough to run a test that captured 40 or nuclides from the air. Actually, I got to thank them for letting me know there is a new meltdown happening in Fukushima.
Anyhow, He seems to be about risk mitigation and trying to help others when it comes to others.
From the news, you would think the radiation issue is not an issue.

That's because it's not, unless you live in eastern Honshu. Seriously, you have absolutely nothing to worry about from the airborne radioactive material from Fukushima. You got a higher dose straight from space on the 13 hour flight to Korea.
I have three family members who work in a Canadian nuclear power plant; their careers hinge on the fallout - both literal and figurative - from Fukushima. Believe me, I've heard about very little else since it happened.
