Female co-T: Do you have a rubber I can borrow?
Me: Umm... what was that?

I then explained she meant rubber band, and because she's pretty cool I explained the "other" meaning so she doesn't find herself in a sticky situation. It was good fun.

I have no doubt that every foreign-looking male in Korea has been told at some point or other that he is handsome, but one of the special education teachers in my school exclaimed today "Jon you such a pretty-boy!". Harmless in text, but putting the stress on 'pretty' instead of 'boy' changes the meaning somewhat... I had to explain to her why I was chuckling, and she loved the fact that she'd inadvertently said I look a bit fruity

My coteacher said, "You are cut up of teaching".  His English is actually very good, so I asked him what he meant, and then I explained the idiom "cut out for".  The next teacher's lesson I did was on idioms and they loved it!
Be the change you want to see in the world.

Or she may have wanted an eraser like device. The above is perfectly Innocent in the UK hence why I bring it up as many times as possible with Americans both  here and when I was at uni.  ;D

Not a co-teacher, but one of the admin staff. He refers to the principal as his mistress, and considering the fact that he recently got promoted to being the head admin guy...

VP (reading an 'American Expressions' book) looks up and says:  'Teacher, you are an asshole!'  and 'Teacher, get off my ass!'  and bursts out laughing.  haha!  made my day!

"I like you!" (said by a male teacher when we first met)

"You are very PG." (same male teacher, just yesterday)

During a teachers' class today: "Be careful, don't expose yourself..." (turns out she was talking about the 'radioactive rain')

These are student comments, but I still thought they were.... interesting:

Just after a class a student (HS grade 3) I don't have came into my classroom and wrote down 'my captian' with an arrow pointing down, and then pointed at himself.

in one school my (MS) students keep diaries, and I collect them bi-weekly. some entries I've gotten so far...
"Teacher, would you like to come to my house?"
"[She] is sick. So, I think.... that's too bad...."
one entry about homework, and then: "Teacher will be very sorry" :S

This is a story I heard from my friend

Students: Teacher how are you?
Teacher: I'm tired...
Students: Why?
Teacher: Because of you.

My teacher likes to leave the ends off of certain words.
Please - plea
course - cour

oh and "how about you?" is "how abounyu?"

I try not to laugh in class, I know its not nice but it funny and cute at the same time

When we were at the X-ray section of the medical exam, my co tells me that I need to take off my shirt, jersey and bra and to be sure to remove my necklace if I am wearing one. I go into the change room which is in the middle of a busy public waiting area, which one has to walk through again to get to the x-ray machine. 2 seconds later, she comes rushing in a bit of a blind panic, shouting, "And then the gown, the gown!!! You need to put on the gown!!!" This little hospital adventure also involved her wanting to come with me into the toilet to help me pee in the cup and holding my hand when we crossed the road. Good times.

You might not believe it, but my CT actually said, in class, "She loves you long time"

I had a student tell me her parents were "pubic officers"  - she meant public officers.

I had another student write, "to reduce pollution, you should **** more." - he meant walk more.

"What is that?" Motioning to my face as we walk into class.

"Oh, a pimple!"

Yes, thanks for noticing. Let me know when you're on your period and I'll be handy and tell you you look bloated :)

I'm from SA and the first couple of weeks I was bitchin about the weather to my CT. Then spring came and he told me:

"Now remember, Spring weather is like young woman's mind. Crazy. Actually, all women are crazy."

A teacher that speaks decent English one day asked me, "Which hand do you wipe with when you do your business?" This was accompanied by a wiping motion of course. I didn't really know what to say, but he nodded his head up and down so hard to solicit a response from me that I shrugged my shoulders and held up a hand. He responded by loudly proclaiming, "Savage, you are a savage. I use paper. Muahahahahaha!" Yes, it was an evil laugh.

The first time I wore my hair down to school my co-teacher said to me:
"You got a perm!"
"Oh, no my hair is naturally like this"
"No it's not, nobody has hair like that naturally!"

Thank you for making me laugh on a rainy, miserable day.

One of my boyfriend's better students said, "You are very handsome. Are you handsome in Canada too?" Hilarious, AND astute. I think he said yes.

CT: "Don't be stonehead."

Me: "I'm sorry?"

CT: "Stone...head?"

He meant "blockhead."

Oh yes, my principal is very enthusiastic about riding me. Also, one of the females has threatened to "steal my eyes," since they're such a pretty blue. I'm scared of them both now.
