제이:
Anybody do the maekgoli/jeon/rainy day combo? I hear Koreans talking about it but I've yet to try it.

I know how to make jeon so I think next time it rains I'll give it a try.

This combo is the epitome of #based Korean life. I don't always buy into the 'if this, then do that' mindset, but this is legitimate. There are few things more satisfying that getting toasted on mack and eating 전. So peaceful and kind.

I've been making my own mack for the past year. It's super #rare - I've ever made barley rice mack, which is all about that earthy, toasty taste.

wrinklebump:
sesame pajeon in particular is indeed bomb with any type of mahkeolli

no idea where you live but this place makes the absolute best dohngdohngjoo ive ever had, the amount of which can be measured in terms normally reserved for cargo freighters

well worth a day trip down to gyeongsangnamdo on a weekend or (!) red day

I live in Seoul but I will keep this in mind for the summer holiday.

Besides the deliciousness and strength of dongdongju, the real fun of the makgeolli drinks is getting them in a proper makgeolli "hut," as I call them--the ones that are made to resemble an old-fashioned, ornate Korean house with floor seating a rustic carved-interior.  Really low ceilings and paper lantern lighting.  They usually serve big veggie or seafood pajun.

Damn, I haven't gone out for this in like a year.   :(  Definitely a must before I leave Korea!
