Korean Study Groups
제이:
I'm not talking about that LanguageCast number, which I've been to once and felt more like a giant hook up than a study session (maybe I've pegged it wrong). I'm talking about a group of foreigners (western or not) getting together to try and study and practice Korean. Think of that sitcom "Community" with Korean instead of Spanish and without the zany characters.
No Koreans, so no imbalanced language exchanges, unless maybe they are there as guests and just want to help answer questions. Small, so the group isn't chaotic.
I've read that this might be a good idea, but I don't know what a group like this would look like. I figure it would be good to help share explanations (after all you sometimes learn more from teaching) and it may also help by making all the members accountable. People could also share their studying tips or good resources.
Has anybody had any experience running/being in a language study group?
Are there any study groups currently going on that might be looking for new members?

I would also be really interested in this, if there is anything out there!

The article that gave me the initial idea.
I would like to organize a group in Suwon if I could figure out a good way to spend our time to make it worthwhile.

Interesting. I've never taken part in a study group before, but if the members take it seriously it sounds like a good idea. I'm not far from Suwon either and so will be keeping an eye on this thread!
