South African citizens that have visited Ireland:What documentation do you need?

Hello to all fellow South African citizens  :)

I would just like to know if anyone has visited Ireland recently and what documentation did you need to present to Immigration in Ireland? I read that if you are a South African citizen, a visa is not required for Ireland. Is this correct? If I am only visiting a friend there for under 2 weeks, do I need to show Immigration an invitational letter from my friend in Ireland, saying I'll be staying with them for a few days or do I need to write a letter as to my reasons for visiting Ireland? Any help will be much appreciated-thanks!  :D
