Heading to Gunsan

Hi!

I'm Gemma and pretty soon I'll be heading to Gunsan to teach in a Hagwon with my partner David.

We've still got around a month to go, so if anyone has any advice for mid-to-last minute preparations and to do lists I'd love to hear them 8)

Hi there,

My advice would be to prepare as many PPTs for your students as you can. Do you know the years you'll be teaching? If so then use this site to download stuff, then adapt it and upload your own materials.

As long as you keep your Ss happy, all else seems to go okay here. Outside of school have you or David any experience biking? You can get a bike here very cheaply and its worth is huge, if you're stationed out in the boonies.

Hi Livzy,

Thanks for your advice! We both enjoy cycling so it's great to hear that it'll be a useful and used hobby :D

The students will be Elementary level. I'm currently trying to learn about writing lesson plans so I can get some practise in and hit the ground running when we arrive, however at the moment my brain has just gone into a "teach them ALL the things" panic  :o

He he, teaching ALL the things is probably not necessary. Sorry I didn't read previously that you're going to a hagwon. See if you can find out whether lesson planning is at all needed, as you might find out it's all done already. Maybe they have facilities for PPTs or maybe not. In the meantime you could gather a few fillers to get acquainted with them, so you can pull them out of your shirt sleeves at short notice? Just generic stuff that can be applied to any vocab, eg hangman.

Hi Livzy!

You say Bikes are easy and chap to get here?  My girlfriend and I just arrived here in Gunsan, and we would really like to get bikes... could you help us with places we can look for bikes?  and maybe second hand places? and how much is cheap?

Thanks!!!

Peter
