Vietnam is now seriously over touristy, and as in a lot of the world foreigners get treated like a walking cash machine. Don't get me wrong, there are some nice places in Vietnam, but in general it might not be what you expect. Having said that, what people make of a country is always dependent on what they have seen before, and in my opinion there are far better places to visit.
On an additional note, do yourself a favour and steer well clear of Hoi An, it's just an overhyped tourist destination full of rip-off clothes shops (albeit in a quaint kind of surroundings), and someone around every corner trying to sell you something that is overpriced. I really didn't like it.
Anyway, like I said, spend your time in Cambodia, visit the temples (don't spend too long up there, although Siem Reap does have a nice vibe even though it is heavily touristy, somehow it just feels ok), then head south (the best part), go to some of the great, small national parks, check out Sihanoukville and lounge on relatively quieter beaches, or if you want quieter, head out to some of the beautiful islands that are almost empty , and there is always Kampot, lovely chilled out small town on a river (not much there, but peaceful).
It's much more rewarding than Vietnam, and the people are much nice in my opinion, plus travelling around in 11 days is much more doable than Vietnam.
Like someone has said above, Vietnam really isn't the greatest place for public transport. I flew a few places because i got sick of the buses taking forever. Internal flights were pretty cheap. In Cambodia the buses are not too bad, beacuse the distances just aren't as great as they are in Vietnam, and there are loads of share taxis you can take, and if you are not on too much of a budget taxis are not too bad to get you around from town to town if you can't be arsed with buses like me!

cambodia was amazing. i agree. angkor wat is beautiful, and you can hire tuktuk drivers to take you to the other temples near siem reap. we did this and we were the only people in the jungle at a temple at like 7am. it was pretty amazing.
when in siem reap, check out angkor what bar. pretty cool.

Great advice, thanks guys.
Cambodia eh? Well I'm gonna do it all (obviously not all, but you know what I mean) at some point or other so it doesn't really matter where I choose but if Cambodia is better for the time I have then I'm convinced.

You could probably do both in one trip. Last summer, a flight from Vietnam to Cambodia was $25 CAD through Jetstar.

It would be a wasted trip to try and do both those countries in 10 days!! :o I had 4 weeks and it still wasn't enough to do what I could have done.
